The air was fresh and light when Toma woke up that morning in April. He rose out of the comfort of his warm futon rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Toma's pajama bottoms drug on the cool floor of his apartment as he moved to the bathroom.

Shedding his clothes, he turned the water on until steam rolled out from the top of his shower before stepping in. He allowed the rushing water to sooth the muscle in his collarbone. Lifting his chin higher, he found a calm comfort in the pulsing water. Toma turned, scrubbing his scalp in a relaxing way, and allowed the water to massage his back, leaning forward as the water rolled down his shoulders.

Quite satisfied with the fresh bath, Toma turned off the tap and walked out of the shower. Picking up a towel he gently dried off his hair and wrapped the towel around his waist. Still letting out soft yawns, he went to his closet and pulled a dark blue jeans and a black shirt. He put on his belt, and as he was pulling on his shirt he stopped midway, casting a glance out the window and smiled. Pulling the shirt down the rest of the way, Toma approached the window and opened it.

The spring breeze blew his damp locks as he took in the beautiful sight before him. The city was painted with splashes of pink, emanating the good fragrance of sakura flowers. As the wind blew, the trees swayed casting aside more of the green grasses.

Toma had the faintest notion he was forgetting something but he was so caught up in his own thoughts before the beautiful scenery, he didn't even notice the pink sakura that had found its way somewhere into his room. After a while he went to grab his mug to enjoy his coffee, sitting leisurely on his lazy chair and enjoyed the beautiful day. As he stood, intending to go to the kitchen, his gaze rested on his nightstand.

Laying on its surface was a square box wrapped in white wrapping paper with a freshly blewn sakura decorating on it. Puzzled, Toma strolled over and lifted it, brushing the sakura away. When his eyes caught the tag placed on it he realized with a jerk what he had forgotten.

It was Yamapi's birthday!

Mug forgotten on his nightstand, Toma grabbed the wrapped gift and rushed towards his car, igniting his engine as he drove off. He didn’t even bother to change into a more fancy clothes because he would miss the party if he even tried.

“I can’t believe I overslept!” Toma scowled himself. “I was supposed to be there hours ago! Baka!” He jumped out right after he reached the bar where Yamapi held his celebration party and burst through the door, panting really hard like he had run all the way there.

“Pi, I’m sorry!” he said hurriedly as he looked around. Jin and Ryo was sitting at one bar, spinning to look at him, then smiled welcomingly. Shirota was almost impossible to see in the back of the crowd but Toma hadn’t been looking for him either. Eyes wild, he finally spotted Yamapi at one corner, talking to Koyama about something funny and giggled at that.

“Where were you?” Ryo greeted. “You’re late. We already opened the gifts and had some cake and toasts. We almost go home already.”

“Oh, sorry. I slept in and I completely forgot the time,” Toma grinned sheepishly.

At that moment, Yamapi’s eyes caught Toma’s figure, eyes locking with his best friend with a disappointed look, but Toma thought his eyes were smiling. Yamapi approached Toma, clicking his tongue as he shook his head.

“I swear for a young guy like you, you sure do forget a lot,” Jin teased.

“At least he’s more intelligent than you,” Ryo grinned, and Jin chucked a cushion on the Osakan’s face.

Yamapi gave a faint smile then looked up at Toma with a hurt expression. “You forgot about me? How cruel.”

“I said I was sorry!” Toma was exasperated. He would forgive himself if anything, but it’s Yamapi’s birthday! His best friend, his long life crush, his everything. How could he?

“Well maybe you can make it up to me?” Yamapi grinned and slid a small square box out from Toma’s hand. “What’s this?”

“It’s for you! Happy birthday, Pi,” Toma inwardly sigh; Yamapi would surely forgive him after seeing the gift. A black Louis Vuitton Tambour watch Yamapi had wanted since early this year.

Yamapi opened it and Toma was expecting a rib crushing hug but instead Yamapi looked back at Toma before turning around to pick a box off the table and held them up.

“Um, Toma, Yuu gave me this too,” Yamapi showed Toma the two boxes in his hand, with the similar identical watch inside.

Toma gave a mortified look and his heart felt like it had died in his chest. Slowly Toma turned towards Shirota. “I thought I told you I was going to get that.”

“Uh, actually, no. You just told us about that,” Jin interrupted.

Toma rolled his eyes. “And why didn’t you inform Yuu about it?” he let out a deep sigh, frustrated and embarrased beyond believe. “I’m sorry, Pi. I just have been messing up a lot.”

Yamapi pulled up an eyebrow, then he grinned at his best friend. “It’s nothing, Toma. You seriously thought I’d be mad at you at something like this? I love the watch, and I’m glad I can have two of it.”

Toma instantly brightened up at that. “Really? Ah, thank you. Happy birthday, Pi,” Toma cheered, placing his arms around Yamapi’s neck as he patted his friend’s well-formed back. Barely aware how Yamapi’s cheeks crept with light pink.

Toma didn’t get to celebrate long, they already started to settle things away. By the time they done clearing up, it was late; the once pink colored trees were as black as the night around them. Toma volunteered to help Yamapi put all of his gifts into the bags and helped him drive them home.

“Consider this part one of you present re-due,” Toma muttered, lifting the bag full with gifts into a more comfortable position. Yamapi chuckled and stuffed his gifts into Toma’s car as he got into the passenger side.

The bright street lights in the area occasionally flashed the pink sakura into a glistening color, turning the night into a pleasant ride. Yamapi looked around as Toma drove through the city. It had been long he hasn’t feel the rush of energy inside him whenever he looked at the pink color. He used to love pink a lot, to the point that Takki even called him Yamapi. It surprised him that the nickname stuck up until now. But pink is warm. Yamapi breathed out. A light breeze rippled through the air as he glanced aside.

“Would you like to give a proper birthday gift for me? Since you missed my party anyway,” Yamapi grinned a bit.

Toma grimaced. “Well, fine. I’m so sorry. Anything you want in particular?”

“Let’s stop at a park. You know, I love parks.”

Toma didn’t question much at the simple request. He pulled a halt when he saw a nearby park, and they went out, taking in the fresh spring air. Yamapi sat down on a bench with Toma following suite. It was too late for Toma to realize he was sitting too close to Yamapi. It would be too awkward if he moved away, so he let them be. A comfortable silence hung in the air between them for a few minutes.

“I love pink. It gives some sort of energy, if that even make sense,” Yamapi said, eyes lingering around at the trees, covered with no leaves but pink flowers.

“Because you were born in the pink season?” Toma grinned, teasing tone woven his knowing voice.

Yamapi glared. “I love summer. And well, I have hay fever.”

“What do those has anything to do with this?” Toma chuckled. And Yamapi pouted, making his full lips even more visible. Toma felt his heart skipped a beat, so he looked away; trying to find some comfort for the funny things his heart was playing.

“Don’t you think it’s like yozakura?”

Toma turned again, looking at Yamapi with questioning eyes.

“We’re sitting in a middle of a park bloomed with sakura, adorned by the lights. It’s like yozakura,” Yamapi explained, stretching himself and brushing his nose hard to chase away his nervousness.

“If you want a yozakura, we can have a proper one. I’ll take you to one as another belated birthday gift,” Toma offered. He still felt uneasy of giving Yamapi the same gift as Shirota bought.

But Yamapi shook his head. “No, this unplanned one is more romantic.” Inwardly Yamapi smacked himself for being so straight forward. But he can’t help it; it’s just the way he is anyway.

Toma frowned a bit at that statement, and in that dimly lit atmosphere, he could clearly saw how Yamapi blushed. The faint street light shone on Yamapi's face, Toma couldn’t really tell how much that face looked perfect. He felt a slight pang in his chest at that thought. He loved this boy. He knew he always does, he couldn’t even remember when he doesn’t. Carefully he leant forward, placing an innocent peck on Yamapi’s lips. Yampi blinked a few times, looking back at Toma. But Toma just scratched the back of his head, blushing and looked away as if nothing had happen. Yamapi always thought he was bad at showing expressions, but this time, Toma’s look was unreadable.

Then Yamapi smiled devilishly. “I should get more than just a peck on my birthday. What do you think, Toma?”

Toma rolled his eyes. “Excuse me?”

Yamapi chuckled again, a strange feeling of happiness strangely rose inside him as he reached for the nape of Toma’s neck, pulling them into a deep kiss. Toma engaged their mouths gently, succumbing to the slow passionate kiss, tasting every inches of his love's wet cavern. The kiss lasted for what seemed to be eternity. Toma held Yamapi against him until he felt Yamapi begin to pull away.

Staring into Toma’s eyes, Yamapi grinned, resting his forehead on Toma’s. “Forget about those gifts in the car, this is definitely the best present I received today.”

Toma lowered his lashes, feathering chuckles on Yamapi’s face. “Happy birthday, Pi,” he whispered his wishes once again. This time, with more confidence.

~The End~

A/N: I didn't really make Toma came after the party but I made him came right before they ended instead... I hope the private time can replace that request and serve as apology though~ ^^
