I know how Jenna feels... I am high functioning, but Fetal Alcohol Syndrome along with learning disabilities has taken away the ability to succeed in college and to get and keep jobs. I have a few friends, but I seem unable to keep them after a few years as well. I get frustrated as hell and I just want to vent in LJ all the time rather than screaming. Though there are a few rare moments when I do break down and want to scream and break things. I hate this. and it's unfair that i have to pay for my mother's mistakes for the rest of my life. yet... I go on anyway living through a lifetime of this private hell that not many can understand.

Autism sucks. of any form. it really does disable your ability to be independent and it leaves you wondering almost obsessively why you're here... and there is no answer...

I always used to assume that my sister had no idea she was autistic until I saw her carrying around the DVDs of I Am Sam, What's Eating Gilbert Grape and Rainman. I had no idea she had even seen those movies as she almost exclusively watches cartoons. Maybe she does ask herself those questions you mention.

It's about growing up with Jenna from birth until today. I even write about writing the book lol
