It seems my car dealership/mechanic has caught onto the wedding-band thing, albeit with some confusion. They've taken to calling me Mrs. MyLastName. Chris and I aren't common law or anything, but even if we were, I think we'd still stick with boyfriend and girlfriend. Although a couple times people have asked him (while I'm sitting right there) if we're married, and he's said yes. I think just because it's the easiest answer. I've thought about it, and the only reason I'd say "husband" is because it would make me seem more normal. And I just don't feel like it.

I don't know, I suppose I'm just looking for people to bounce ideas off of, who might have some of the same experiences. It's not really a huge thing in my life, either, but these things come up occasionally. It's something that's been on my mind lately (we are all about the existential ponderings as of late in this house as C approaches the big three-oh.)

I've never much liked the Mrs. label. So I just go by Ms. MyLastName and will continue to do so even after we do the whole legal marriage thing next year.
I do like partner, but i know it's not for everyone. I started using fiance to people who might not understand the use of the word partner and i'll probably substitute husband the same way. I think it's all personal preference and what makes you feel the most comfortable.
