The World Meeting of Families this Septemeber and everyone is freaking the heck out. I know a couple of people who are actually leaving town because the traffic will be insane in and around Center City. Now of course the Pope coming to visit is wonderful news but there are a few things that are happening

I heard that they're basically putting up a wall around Center City and there will be security checks to get in and no cars on the roads once you are in. Philly's a very walkable city (for people who walk) so I don't really have a problem with no cars, but a lot of people work in CC but don't live here, so they basically have to take the week off.
There aren't going to be any deliveries allowed to stores and businesses during his visit, so no fresh food in CC. You run out of something, you're going to have to do without.
I live in CC and commute up to Germantown. I've told my boss that either I work from home that week or he finds a place for me to stay. We've already decided not to see clients that week. I kind of want to be in CC for the craziness, but I kind of also want to escape from it when I get tired of it.

And your boss is wise to not try and make appointments with clients--they probably won't be able to get to your office.
