"Affectionately, your Uncle Screwtape"

First, I love the regional rails and I love President Obama for looking out for the people in PA.  Yes, the SEPTA workers deserve a fair wage but you can’t cripple commuters and all of the businesses depending on all of those people coming into the city to work to make your point and still retain the goodwill of the train riders.  I hope the ( Read more... )

So it was a modernized version? Hard to imagine somehow, Lewis was such a product of his time. I love the Letters and yet they're not as funny as they might have been. I think he missed a trick or two in his earnestness (and with the mote in his eye).

The scenes in between Screwtape reading his responses to Wormwood's reports felt very modern--there was a sexy dance scene, a fire-eating scene and even a fight scene--so I was wondering what the original play was like.

I'm coming to Philadelphia next week, does this mean I should avoid SEPTA? I was thinking of taking it from my hotel at the DoubleTree on Broad to the convention center.

Oh no, the SEPTA people are in talks, trying to get their contracts straightened out and they even have an emergency board comprised of the president's people to get this completed.

So, SEPTA's working--you will be fine :)

I'd seen one that was almost a one-man show. It was basically a guy reading out the letters with AV aids and a secretary that would come in from time to time. I think they danced a few times and everything had a 40s feel to it.

Was this part of the Fringe Festival? If so, there should be a crapload more awesome productions going on all summer. I remember the one I was super into before I moved to Cali was full of so many amazing shows, I was spoiled for choice!

I saw it at The Lantern Theater and the man who read the letters had performed the play first at the Fringe Festival, so it's probably the same actor :) COOL BEANS :):)
