I want to cook chicken and dumplings for Metz. Do any of you have a fail proof recipe for it all (chicken, stock and dumplings).

Thanks in advance.

dumplings, crock, chicken, freezer

Hmmm... thinking... thinking... would that be on the stove or in the crock pot? Or in the oven?

I made a chicken stew with dumplings in the crock pot today - it turned out really well. Was that kind of what you had in mind?

I do but I am off for a day of rabble rousing. I will post it when I get back! Basically it's canned chicken, celery, water and appropriate spices in water until the chicken is done. Then you make up Bisquik per the box recipes and drop in spoonfuls and put the lid on for about 10? minutes on a low simmer. Then don't open the lid until time to eat. Now I like my dumplings chewy and a bit doughy so you may need to cook yours longer.

I know this is a slap-dash recipe, but this is one of those meals you can experiement with. Onde of the spices I use is garlic along with the salt and pepper!

And hello to South Africa! :-)

M'kay. This is what I do - it's very easy... you can crock it or you can cook it on the stove ( ... )

Um, Ursy... how big is a dessert spoon? Are your dumplings little ones?

*waves hello to TST* hi sweetie, nice to see you here!

A 'zert spoon is smaller than a table spoon, hon :)
My dumplings rise and they become kinda scone sized!
