Well, Angel's my heart, so if I made you remember why you loved him once too, then I did my job. Thanks so much for the feedback, I appreciate it a lot.
*delurks* It took me a while to actually think of anything to say here because I'm still busy with the inarticulate noises, but I have to say something, cause damn. You nailed them all, and made me ache for them and smile for them and then threw the hot in there just to keep things interesting. This is utterly fantastic, thanks for sharing this.
I love every word, but here are the ones I love best:
The wooden boards beneath her feet don’t creak; old hotels and demons, things built to stay.
One of them holds out a hand (it was prom and promises, he will always get there first). One of them says her name (it was sex and solace, but he always laughs last).
You sum them up so beautifully with this.
“That is where they are. The Hotel Hyperion, in the City of Angels. A bit heavy in both irony and drama for my taste.”
“Says the Immortal kettle with a secret identity fetish, and no actual first name.”
LOL! Great Buffy-voice.
It was impossible that they had only done this once. Impossible that the amount of times she had killed him and made love to him were exactly the same.
When she kisses him, even after all this time, it is easy to believe in snow.
I don't even ship B/A, but these lines just made me ache.
“Don’t you ever get tired of completely destroying cities
( ... )
If someone had told me that one day you would write a story just for me, I would have laughed. Because I can still remember the day I found your fic...the day I realized that people actually cared about the words they committed to cyberspace. I remember sending my first note to you and when you replied I was all gleeful. I was just dipping my toe into fandom, everything was brand new. Geesh- the shows were still on
( ... )
And I also loved that he knew she'd offer her own blood to him- because she *would*, but she didn't argue the point when he said no.
But she doesn’t want to be his salvation or his damnation anymore I love this line. I think it really places Buffy. She isn't a child. She's lived through a lot- and sure, made mistakes, but now she's making choices. I think this line is beautifully in character and utterly mature.
In fact, Buffy throughout this piece is so well-drawn. She isn't petulant or self-centered or whiney. She is self-aware. And there are so many great Buffy-lines (which I particularly admire because I think she's hard to write.)
So this, for example: “You hero types are all the same. Swoop into town, kill the bad guy, get the girl.” She ran her index finger along the side of his bare foot. “Then ride off alone into the uh, moonrise."
or this “Says the Immortal kettle with a secret identity fetish, and no actual first name.”
And she's Buffy with each character- interesting to see how much she and Spike talk and how little
( ... )
Chris, this fic is SO VERY MUCH all for you. Especially the B/A bits, but really, all of it. You're the inspiration, baby. And I can't tell you enough how glad I am to have met you.
You are very loved round these parts, and with good reason.
You're the inspiration, baby. Feel free to be inspired by me any time you like.... Oh, and this will be the featured story at Sublime for October. You didn't say- but I am assuming that's okay. Thank you.

I have more to say, but right now? Am in awe. Will have words later. Much later. After many re-readings.

I think you're a liar. I think you *do* ship B/A just a little, you just don't want to admit it.
