Cosmetics review practice

Since I want to get into doing makeup reviews, I figured I'd start messing around with them on here and then maybe get a separate blog for them. Or maybe not. Anyway, I definitely buy/receive/get gifted enough makeup that some nifty reviews might be worthwhile. SO ( Read more... )

I love makeup reviews, though I much prefer to see swatches on skin if you can! Even just on your arm or something, because we all know colours look different in the box :D

Also the price of the makeup at the top of the review would be super helpful because I try and avoid reviews for expensive makeup :(

Those colours are amazing - I couldn't ever imagine using a blue like that. What's your skin colour/hair colour?

Then swatches it is! Especially for the next one, since the Urban Decay box is winning the poll. :D Oh my gosh, those colors look so amazing on skin.

And will definitely put the price at the top next time. This one isn't so bad, considering what it is and the fact that it's on sale again, but it's normally $34, I think, which is like the outer limits on what I'll pay, myself. The UD box was a Christmas gift or I'd never have it at all. @_@

If you like less pricey alternatives, the HiP Duos I mentioned in the poll have amazing pigmentation and are just a few bucks. :) I'll at least swatch some out in the near future to show y'all.

I'm super-pale with hazel eyes and dishwater blond hair, so mostly I use this palette for evenings and winter! The grays are more multi-purpose than that vivid blue, though.

the colours look amazing. like wickedcherub said, swatches would be immensely helpful. also, their wearability would be helpful too - how long they last and if they smudge as soon as you blink, sort of thing. your descriptions are wonderfully done, though.

i look forward to more reviews.

Swatching the Urban Decay palette right now, and I may include swatches from this set with that next post. :D

Oh, and that's a great idea about the wearability factor. It's a huge part of why I love this palette - the colors will stay on me all day, without any primer underneath. (Not the glitter, of course; that's all over my cheeks by the end of the day if I leave it.) Thanks for the suggestions, and hopefully I'll have the UD review up soon.

Agree with everyone else about swatches. Makeup reviews are pretty much useless without, unless you already know the colours & just want opinions on the staying power.
