How do you spell perfection? The Red Hot Chili Peppers performing "Californication" at Coachella at sunset, that's how. 91X just did a broadcast of it ( Read more... )

Whoever said that King Arthur sucks must not be into cool battle scenes. All the characters have different weapons so it makes it fun to see how they dispatch their enemies! I liked the dude with the sabre and Falcon.

"Carnival of Souls"

I actually had to read that twice. This is one of my dirty-little-secret-DVD's that I've bought over the last several years. I thought I was alone...I feel better now.

Hey, its reputation is that of a classic and a rarity, not a piece of schlock. Check the web, there are scholarly essays about it!

"King Arthur" made me want to shovel dirt over my own soul. Horrid movie. I was rooting for the Saxons, though, so there is a big bit of bias in my review. ^_^

My favorite King works are short stories. "Battleground" is my favorite, followed closely by "The Jaunt". Find them if you haven't already.

Shovel dirt over your own soul? Hm, maybe I'll just re-watch "The Matrix". OTOH, I really do want to see Keira Knightly as a warrior Guenhwyfar.

Keira's there for one-liners and fake woad. The historical inaccuracies they don't even attempt to cover up will make your inner eye twitch incessantly; the Mongol horselord in the middle of England while Rome still had a presence on the Isles? I wouldn't rent that line of crap with Paul Verhoeven's money. While I echo holycrusader's comment of pretty sweet fight scenes, not to mention a veritable tableau of medieval weaponry that gets even me salivating, I find it extremely hard to stomach that Excalibur was a gladius iberius. . .

It's borrowed, not rented, so all I'm using is time. If I turn it off partway through, no harm no foul.
