The conference was like this; a stage with a long table behind which were sitting a bunch of Army and NASA muckymucks with all of us in folding chairs with little writing desks lined up in front. I stood up and yes, I raised my hand and said, "I volunteer!" Mentally I did think, "As Tribute". YOUR FAULT.

I was my current age (46, 47 in August), but by the time I was trained and the rocket would be ready to go, I'd be 50.
