Yes it is! Although I've been watching it on Crunchyroll. But since they've got the whole only showing licensed stuff only and all that jazz I might have to go download fansubs before I die of impatience.
Did I mention in my entry it's about basketball? Don't think so...so it's about basketball! =P Since I suck at summaries I've copied and pasted from Wiki. =D;;
"At the outset of the manga, the team is in trouble, as there are not enough players to play a game. Additionally, the coach has left after a conflict with Fujiwara. However, Aikawa transfers to Mizuho and through his enthusiasm and sheer love of the game, infuses the few remaining members with a sense of purpose.
Despite the fact that there are only five of them (i.e., they have no substitutes), they manage to get the coach of the girls' team to coach them as well. At first, she seems very strict, but later reveals her attachment to her "Dear Boys". Together, they do their best to make their dreams come true and take their team to the top of the prefecture."
That's a description of the manga but it's pretty much the same for the anime. There's a musical as well that once I finish the anime, I need to track down. XD
Thanks. What is it that you like about it? Is there a particular character that got your attention? Sorry if this is annoying, I'm just curious about things like that.
I think the main character is what caught me first. He's super talented just like Ryoma in TeniPuri but has a more outgoing and perky personality. Not to mention there's some angst about the history of the boys' team and some romance-y aspects between the girls' and boys' teams. That's really as far as I've gotten which is about 6 episodes in (only 26 epis!).
I do have to say there are some parallels with TeniPuri (one of the characters remind me of Fuji XD;;) so that may be why I like it so much but I say if you're interested give the first epi a shot cause that's all it took for me to get hooked!
Dear Boys IS LOVE. I haven't seen the musical - SHOCK - although Gomoto - you know him, right? - was in the first one. I so gotta check those out, too. (T__T)
Anyway, you like Ai-chan, right? Did you know/notice that he has the same voice actor as Kaidou? If you're going along that path, then you just MUST watch "Hajime no Ippo". 'Cos it kicks ass in every possible - and impossible - way. It's not quite as gay (?) as PoT is but there's enough delicious action between men. And well, it's a boxing anime and the main character has the same voice as Kaidou, and there's this one boxer who has the same voice as Momo and he's pretty awesome, too, and...it's pretty easy to get the series. The anime started again this year and I'm in love. Seriously.
And you're killing me! Of course now that you've rec'ed Hajime no Ippo I'm going to check it out! And holy CRAP did not know about the voice actors thing! Must do some of my own research and whatnot!
New Challenger started on the 6th so it's really new. And it's awesome. I can hardly find words to describe how good it is - the manga is also love but if you wanna read it, you gotta read it online. And get ready for shower scenes and male humor! (^O^)
In my icon is my OTP from Ippo. ♥ You can see more if you look at my profile. (^__^)
Sorry about killing you! I didn't mean to... (;__;) But it just happens to be my very favourite series... (.__. )
Ooooh, London! Sounds exciting! Hope you have looooots of fun!
I'm gonna try to start either the anime or manga in the next couple days~ Although the number of chapters is very daunting! -_-;; And I had my first day of classes for this semester and looks like I'll have tons of reading for all my classes! But the likelihood of me actually keeping up with class readings is very low...eh... XD

Waiting for more PoT as well, though. (^w^)
Later and enjoy watching wonderful anime! \(^O^)/
P.S. I'm not into sports, either...
