Notes: I've tried writing this a million times and it always ends up this way.

Middle of Semester

It takes 15 minutes ride from home to school, but since a month ago Nino has to wake up early not to be late. He just not walk from home to school, he takes the longest route - around the village towards the south entrance of the school. He has his reason; it may not good enough, but a reason nonetheless.

Nino went straight to the lone cherry blossom tree mounted atop a small hill, a few yards from the gate. This is perfect spot to view almost the entire road towards the school. Tossing his bag on the ground, he took out his game console as he settled down under the shaded part of the cherry blossom tree, facing the road towards the school gate. This has been the spot he takes to kill time. Waiting

Nino kept on glancing to and fro at the road. The school bell would soon ring to signal the start of first period. Down casted, Nino gathered his things and head to the school.

Where is he? He usually arrives 10 minutes before the bell rings.

He was about to close the gate, since no one actually uses this entrance except him and…

“Hey, hold-on!” a hand held the gate.

His heart pounded because he knows this voice all too well. And his instinct is confirmed when he glanced up. There he is standing in front of him - the reason for the long walks and the early trip to school. Matsumoto Jun.

Nino stared at the handsome young man. Immobile. He could see that Matsumoto was saying something, but for some reason unable to comprehend. It was only when the man passed through him that he realized that the bell has rung already. He ran to his first class at the north building.

Shit. He couldn’t believe of his own idiocy, as he recalled the earlier event.

What was Matsumoto telling before he walked away? I should have said something, anything. A good morning would do or even just bow. I can’t believe I stand there like a statue. I’m a total moron.

“Seriously, just confess already” his ever energetic friend suddenly blurted out.

Nino was moping about his unrequited love towards Matsumoto. More so now after the fail encounter with his prince, he couldn’t recover from that moment for letting his chance pass him.

His bestfriend had been egging him to confess, since the day he told him about his morning rendezvous. Only it was that easy, he would have confessed already. But he was too damn scared of being rejected flat by the taller man. His feeling for the taller man was too deep already. Nino kept contemplating on his friend suggestion for so many times already - the pros and cons of confessing his endless infatuation towards the other.

If only confession is one of my games and Matsumoto Jun is not a very popular guy in their school. He sighed heavily, taking his tray ready to leave.

“Wait-up, Kazu-chan” his best friend shoved the last piece of food into his mouth and followed Nino out of the cafeteria. Not realizing a pair of eyes observing them from afar.

Lately, Nino had been uncomfortable when walking alone in the school ground. He knows he could be paranoid at times, but there’s something different these days like someone has been following his every movement. When he was walking around the campus, at the library when he was pretending to read Japanese History but actually fiddling with his phone, at the cafeteria, or when he was fooling around with his best friend, especially during those times.

Could it be a stalker? Nino laughed at himself for even thinking that someone would be stalking him, especially that he was a stalker himself. He looked back and scanned his surrounding just in case.

He sat at the far end of school ground, his usual spot where the sun would not shine so much. For some reason he hated being under the sun, that sometimes he thinks that his more suited to be born as a vampire.

“Ey, Kazu-chan. Why do we always sit here?”

“You can always go, you know.” Answering harshly, not minding his tone or pouting lips for his friend.

There it goes again - the feeling of being watched. Nino abruptly looked around, that his friend was even stunned by his sudden movement. Was that? No, it can’t be.

The class was so noisy, deciding on what they should do for the coming school festival. Everyone seems so excited, even the ones who don’t usually participate in such events were giving suggestions - some helpful and some makes you lose your patience. This is the school festival before the graduation. Graduation. And finally, he decided to sum up all his courage.

At the night of the school festival Nino keep on searching for the tall and handsome man amongst the crowd of students. I was not an easy task considering his height.

Damn it, where is he? Nino was standing on a platform to get a better view of everyone. He has been looking for the taller man the whole day already but with no luck - not even a shadow.

He eyes was starting tear up, feeling stupid after deciding to finally confess to the taller man this was what fate gave him as an answer.

Maybe it’s just not meant to…

“Uhm. Ninomiya-san.” Nino was too afraid to turn around, he prepared to walk away when a strong hand pull him.

“This will only take a minute, if you can spare me.” The sound was almost pleading. All Nino could do was nod to the taller man’s request.

They’ve been walking for quite some time already, Matsumoto leading the way and Nino tailing him. The silence between the two was not helping Nino at all to calm his pounding heart, especially when the taller man kept on glancing back at him.

Where are they heading?

Nino’s heart stopped when he realize when he saw the cherry blossom.

Cherry Blossom! Has Matsumoto discovered his secret? Is he going to confront him in a place that he won’t be able to deny even when he wanted to?

There were too many things that ran to Nino’s head as they climb the slope, up the mounded tree.

I guess this is for the better. No more denying. No more hiding. No more running to all that has lead to this point. Maybe this is for the better, to be rejected like this and in this place where it all started. It won’t be easy but I have to stop doing this to myself. I’ll tell him everything before it gets out of hand. Yes, this is for the better.

“Uhm Matsumoto-san, I…” about to start his blabbing

“I love you” Matsumoto suddenly said cutting him off.

“What?” Nino forgot to breath.

Matsumoto reached and touched his cheeks gently. It felt like feathers, touching him so lightly that it felt so fleeting, that leaves him wanting for more.

“I’ve been in-love with you for a long time. Will go out with me? Please.” Nino just can’t believe this was happening.

Matsumoto’s hand is touching him so gently and he loves him. Him, Ninomiya Kazunari - an average student, who only play games on his free time, is loved by the most popular guy in school.

“Yes!” Kazu answered with enthusiasm, Jun-kun couldn’t help his laughter and squeezed him tightly.

“J, please” Kazu has been utterly annoying about this for days now.

“Kazu, didn’t I made it clear last time when we had this same conversation” Jun showing his disapproval about the matter.

“But…” Kazu sat on the sofa mumbling that Jun being too strict, and that he’s using his power over him because he was the one who fell for him first.

“Urgh. Fine, we are having burger for supper.” Grabbing his wallet and taking Kazu’s hand gently.

The couple were eating at a fast-food. Matsumoto does not approve of this but his Kazu has been craving for the burger in this newly opened fast-food chain, and who is Jun to deny his wants when his cute boyfriend is giving puppy eyes for days, and when his started talking nonsense again.

“So that we are clear about things. I fell in love with you first.” Wiping the crumbs off his boyfriend’s face.

Start of Semester

Jun decided to walk to school on the first day of the class, not because he was excited or anything. On the contrary he hated school, not because he was flunking his subjects but because he didn’t like the attention given to him to the point that his private space was being invaded. Nevertheless, he still needs to go to school.

He was passing the video game shop near the village when he saw a young man, maybe few years his junior - looking serious as he peek over the counter of newly released video games. The boy looked so cute, the way his expression changed from awe to pout after seeing the price of each one.

He continued to watch the boy until he bought the cheapest among the games on the counter and decided to follow him to school, keeping his distance so that he would not be found, though it seems that the other is too immerse with the game. They are nearing the school already, but to Jun’s surprise the other started climbing the slope towards the lone cherry blossom. The smaller guy settled under the tree and start pounding the game console. Jun kept watching him. It was not until there was 10 minutes before the bell rings, that he started walking towards the school.
