Jim had basically nothing but time. So it was not long before he showed up at Kirk's office, smoothing his green shirt into place and wondering what the kids had come up with.

He needed something. If this didn't work out, he'd have to ask for some minor assignment. Anything.

Kirk looked up and grinned a little, unconsciously knowing who was on the other side of that door, "Come in."

Aye, sir.

I'm available for the next several hours, I'll come right up.

Scotty arrived outside the Captain's office, the PADD Kirk's message had come on, still in hand. He'd not quite gotten over the shock of meeting the Enterprise but he figured it'd take a while before he did. With a light shake of his head, Scotty reached out and palmed the input by the door, requesting entry.

"Come in." Kirk looked up from his work, trying to figure out a system that would do well for himself and Jim.
