I imagine they stuck Bruce to the little end section because he's played by Mark Ruffalo who's not appeared in any of the other Marvel movies -- if it'd been Ed Norton, the audience would recognize him. So they have to have Tony Stark introduce us to Mark-as-Bruce so we know who that guy is.

Im quite sad they got rid of Ed Northon, TIH is my favorite Marvel film, mostly because of the great performance Ed gave.

I'm just going to watch it for some epic Steve/Tony bromance build-up. I want lots of hating and snapping at each other and then an epic truce and then the slow building of the foundation of their relationship
