Memory Alpha is your new bible! It's essentially a Star Trek wiki. Every thing about ST canon (all series and movies) you could ever want to know is here - or probably is anyway. There's also Memory Beta for non-canon works (novels, comics, games, etc), which can give writers some nice extra touches to add.

First of all, a flaily welcome greeting :D There are not nearly enough K/U shippers, they are contending to be my favorite Trek ship, and I am game for flailing about them any time and am always very happy to see a newbie. (Especially one who is enthusiastic enough to try something new - Yay!)

Since you've never written fic before, I kind of want to throw this post at you - I wouldn't take everything she says as scripture, but there are lot of great pointers/warnings/tips that every fic writer should know and which I kind of wish I'd known when I got started writing fanfic ( ... )

I don't even have words to express how useful this post was to me!!! Oh my gosh, thanks a million for taking the time to type this up!--it was so eye opening. I especially like the idea of having a beta more knowledgable than myself, that's a great suggestion! Also, I'll make a point to learn more about TOS. It does look interesting and I've read good things about it...I'll check that out!

Thank you for being so understanding of my noobness! =3 And thanks, also, for your suggestions, especially the suggestion that I just focus on characters for right now & just jump in. I think a "baptism by fire" kind of deal could be a good approach for my first story, which might be just a little one shot, but we'll see.

I hope that I can come up with something good! From the fanfics I have been able to read, I know there's a lot of talent amongst K/U shippers and I just hope that I can keep up, do the community proud, and most importantly do some justice to the K/U romance because they really would be a magificent pairing.--just beyond perfect. ♥ I hope they happen in the next movie... But, anyway thanks again for the big welcome & the advice! :)

Your first fic idea sounds really intriguing! I'm excited to read it. No pressure though! Lol.
