Oh Caitlin, I am so happy you were the director for this show! The dub is really quite good and I'm very happy with it. I feel all warm and fuzzy inside right now... thanks for doing a great job! ^_^ You make a great Haruhi, too.
Heh, it's so early and yet I'm already in fangirl heaven! <3
I watched both episodes yesterday and thought they were absolutely fantastic. I am so excited for the DVD release on the 28th so i can see more of my favorite episodes! Also, as a huge Kyoya fangirl, i was particularly excited for his voice,it was awesome!! Great job directing and voicing Haruhi!!!
I have to say, Caitlin, THANK YOU SO MUCH! You have brought an amazing cast together for this wonderful series. You make an amazing Haruhi and I love your line delivery on particular lines a lot.
I like that the honorifics were kept! Except for "Tono". How come Chan and Sempai were kept but not Tono?
I'm gunna spaz with Vic at Anime Banzai... I just know it XD
We kept -chan because it's so integral to Honey's character. He's the main one who uses it anyway.
We kept senpai because in my opinion it is always necessary to show position and politeness. It's great to replace names with it too, and so often the two extra syllables make the line fit better! Senpai really sets the tone in a show that is so very Japanese.
Tono was not kept however because because it's less familiar to people. Although the fansubs used "Lord" or "My Lord," hearing that in English sounded too religious. The actual translation of Tono is feudal lord, and in episode 20 where we learn more about the twins, they do refer to that.
So we went with "boss" as the name the twins call Tamaki. I think it suits their personalities well.
I just finished watching both the episodes(I guess you could say for the econd time since I actually got to see them at AWA). But I just wanted to say that you and everyone else at Funimation did a great job with the dub. Thank you for the wonderful translation. ^_^
That whole thing was waaaaaayyy too much fun to watch. I swear. My absolute favorite part out of both episodes was Vic's spazzing scene in episode 2 when he's whining about how Haruhi should go back to looking like a girl. He did an absolutely fantastic job with that entire scene XD I had to watch it multiple times. I did love all the little things, too. The script was hilariously written, the cast was amazing, and Caitlin...you are a very impressive Haruhi. You give her a great attitude. I can't wait to hear how the later episodes sound. Great job to everyone who worked on the show! You did not disappoint in the least ^^
