This has been happening for several years, but I've never participated in it. I was inspired to post this year because of the many tweets from my many betes homies on the subject, and of course because I haven't blogged in over six months.

Except I really don't feel like talking about diabetes. Yes, many days are a fucking trial, and November is ( Read more... )

my sympathies. I don't have any stories to share either way, but I wanted to let you know I'm reading.

:( I'm sorry about the miscarriage. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's benign.

Oy. It absolutely sucks when your body doesn't follow the rules. So you have my sympathy.

My friend Meighan had a lump in her breast when she was about 19. It turned out to be okay. She is turning 30 this weekend and is ever the hell-raiser. My Mom had an experience like that awhile back. Again it turned out she is a lumpy sort of person. She didn't say anything to anyone until she had the all-clear. She and I are like that. Keep all that anxiety hidden under some food until it is time to face the music.

*hugs*

My sister went in to get a lump looked at a month ago. The technician doing the test had a cheerful disposition before and then her mood changed dramatically as she was convinced my sister had breast cancer. The lump was benign, but technician's reaction freaked out my sister for the days before the results came back.

Wow, major technician fail.

My sister had a benign cyst on one of her ovaries that was caused by an egg deciding "who needs sperm, I can divide on my own!" They weren't sure what it was until they got it out laparoscopically, but the doctors and nurses being comforting and reassuring sure helped her deal with it.

One of my techs said, "hmm, I don't like that" at one point, which wasn't altogether reassuring, but she showed and explained to me what she saw, so overall I was happier to have the information.
