So, over the last half a decade or so, I've been told several times both by personal acquaintances and by artists whose work I follow that Scott Pilgrim (a series of graphics novels/comics) is awesome. But I'd never gotten around to really taking a look at it. So when its author Bryan Lee O'Malley was scheduled to do a signing at my local comics

Well, honestly, the Sexy Commando influence is something so small that nobody would ever notice it if he hadn't mentioned it in the notesbook. Still, just the fact that he's *read* it is kind of amazing.

Did you hear that "Scott Pilgrim" is being made into a movie (based on the first book)?

Yeah. Although from what I've heard it's supposed to be more of a complete story than just the first book, so it will probably diverge from the uncompleted comic at some point. But the director is reportedly pals with O'Malley and getting input from him directly, so hopefully it'll be good.
