I'm directionally challenged, so this might be completely unrelated. But. If, to get to the gravel road with the pond you were at from Chapel Hill way, you got there by going up 86 toward Hillsborough and then turned right just before the railroad tracks (instead of left to the Farm House), and then went down about I guess a mile and turned right onto the gravel road with a pond next to it, then I know where you're talking about. That gravel road goes nowhere. It dead ends at some townhouses. One of my coworkers lives down there. Dunno if that's the same place, but on the off chance it is....

You mean where the tracks cross 86 next to Allen & Sons BBQ? So, right on Mt. Sinai? And then, uh... looks like maybe there's a tiny pond next to Wild Primrose Lane?

Anyway, I was waaaaay north and a bit west of there. Allen & Sons is about the southern boundary of my reasonably bike-able range from my house at the moment...
