As some of you know, I'm in the middle of moving. Because Dad's pickup broke down, I haven't been able to get the rest of my stuff yet. My aunt is at Grandma's place packing stuff up. I asked them to leave my stuff alone, not to touch anything, and we would go get it on the 3rd. What did they do ( Read more... )

Gah, that's pretty crappy. It's hard to find good advice on that sort of thing.

I found these tips for using a bug fogger/bomb.

-Wash all clothing, linen and other cloth items immediately.

-Go over your home with disinfectant and rags to make sure residual poison is removed from all surfaces. Use a carpet and upholstery shampooer to clean couches, beds and carpeting.

You could also call the product manufacturer to see if they have any suggestions on cleaning as well.

If I come across any of the pesticide vendors at work, I'll try to ask them too, but I don't work again until Tuesday;;

Can't immediately, sadly. I would have been much happier if they had tossed all my stuff in the garage for the animals to rifle through. I'm terrified of pesticides and they should know this by now.

Anyways, do I need to wash the clothes, linens, and other cloth stuff in hot water, or is cold ok? I have stuff that will shrink in hot. And how do you clean fake fur? My coat has it on the hood (luckily, the hood zips off so I can wash the rest of the coat no problem).

Not worrying about the home. It's Grandma's. I'll definitely try the upholstery shampoo on my furniture, though.

Thanks for the help!

I'd wash them however they should be washed. As for the fur, I'm not sure. I don't have anything with faux fur on it. Maybe someone else can help with that? Again, just however it should be washed.

Wash the clothes.

Wipe the books with Clorox wipes.

Go to a reputable jewelry store and pick up a container of jewelry cleaner and dip all your jewelry in it.

wash the stuffed animals by putting them in pillowcases and knotting the pillowcases closed. Delicate cycle.

I can't help with paintings.

Clorox wipes for Prowl.

Rent/borrow a Bissel for your furniture.

None of it needs to be thrown away.

The bleach in the wipes won't... bleach the pages will they? Or do I just need to clean the covers and the edges? And it won't bleach Prowl?

I'll get the best jewelry cleaner I can afford.

And I hadn't thought of putting my stuffed animals in pillow cases. That will be useful for my Popple, who has a long tail.

I'm relieved none has to be thrown away. PC especially is unreplaceable.

If you're worried about the bleach, get a container of gentle baby wipes. No, you just need to do a quick wipe of the covers and page edges, and for your own sanity, the baby wipes would be better.

It doesn't take the most expensive stuff, the one I'm thinking of is this. It doesn't work on fragile gems, like opals, but for everything else, it works really well. You can probably get something very inexpensive at Walmart or Target, TBH.

I'm so sorry they did this to you, it was very selfish of them.

I think all of it was answered above. :)

*hugs* I can't believe that they did that!

Sadly, this is how they usually are. To me and Dad, at least. I have it better, because they don't expect me to do stuff for them, but they have no respect for my things. They act like I'm an idiot teenager sometimes. And they never offer Dad any help, even though they expect him to drop everything to help them. My cousin, Laura, and my Grandfather are the only ones that don't do this.

Sorry for ranting. Just needed to get it out.
