Our bus company was in the paper...I think the author did a pretty good job of presenting the info fairly. The people who commented at the bottom have some good points too. It is nice to know SOMEONE has our backs...I think I know who some of the anonymous commenters were, too.

I am screening ALL comments to this post because I can.

It just occured to me that the article will become locked in a week or longer so I am copy/pasting the text of the article into my post. )

Aren't you guys union now? If you are, they should be helping you to get this issue solved.

Yes we are. And you would think so. But since the drivers were relieved to be given different routes the issue remains unresolved. Who knows what will happen next time something happens. Its not so much the fact that they took the drivers off the routes but that they would punish us for doing our job...They want us to treat it like a classroom when it isn't. It shouldn't be so hard to sit down for 15 minutes.

You should ask your union why they aren't stepping into the middle of this mess. After all that is their job and that is what you are paying dues for. Too often the unions are more than happy to take your dues, but not so happy to do their jobs that the dues are for. This is why I don't like unions.

I agree that the drivers were probably happy to get new routes or keep their jobs, but it the changes were at the companies request and resulted in reduced income, the union should be pitching a fit.

The changes did not result in reduced income. I am pretty sure the union manager was one of the anonymous commentors. And I know they were mad about the whole thing too. I just don't usually talk to the union president/VP because I don't usually see them at the same time as I am there.
