Two to Tango
"This is fun," Tsuyoshi thought, and kept playing around with explosive teenage energy.
"This is work," Kouichi thought, and kept playing along with awkward teenage puberty.
Rumors flew, the rumbling only heightening their popularity.
Rumors flew, the lines slowly blurring with reality.
"This is ridiculous at our age," Kouichi thought, wanting out of the questionable image.
"This is getting too personal," Tsuyoshi thought, wanting out of the dangerous game.
Working his way around the watchful eyes, he silently built a safe private space.
Minding too much about the critical eyes, he desperately sought a definitive self.
"Contradiction is all we look like nowadays," Kouichi almost blurted in frustration.
"Contradiction is what humans are all about," Tsuyoshi's gaze answered in contemplation.
The sensitive boy grew up, the noises of the world drowning his mind.
The shy boy grew up, the demands of the situation forging his poise.
"This is my own life," Tsuyoshi decided finally, and did what he wanted.
"This is just another life," Kouichi observed impassively, and did what the camera wanted.
The unit grew out of glittery visuals, deeper into the art.
The bond grew out of adolescent fanfare, deeper into placid familiarity.
"It'll be the end of us if there really were something weird like that," Tsuyoshi made an official stand, without ever objecting violently to the act.
"We'll do it your way if you think it better like that," Kouichi followed with agreeable response, without ever emoting differently on his part.
Rumors still flew, but by now they were completely composed. It was impossible to please everyone.
Rumors still flew, but only because they allowed them to. It was important to maintain fan base.
"I don't mind," Kouichi stated. "Let's just have fun."
"I don't care," Tsuyoshi stated. "Let's just be us."
Their youth felt far away: the emotional high, the insecurities.
Their life felt long ahead: the inevitable end, the uncertainties.
"Now that I think of it," Kouichi remarked, changing the channel from the parodical coverage of the highly scandalous concert, "the more obvious it seems, the better it is concealed, huh?"
"You're aware of that only now?" Tsuyoshi replied, touching his lips to the slick diamond on an unusually adorned finger. "Is that why this took so long?"
