[Tomapi Fic] Priority

Oct 06, 2009 01:11

I'm a bit apprehensive about accuracy and originality since I haven't been stalking this couple and their fanfics as closely. Many details are randomly pulled out of vague memory / quick Googling / bouncing plot bunnies, as well. ^^0 Criticisms are welcome, with thanks.

Disclaimer: This writing is fictional and has no commercial purpose. Characters are real persons belonging to themselves.

Pairing: Tomapi, tiny bits of Koyashige + Tegomasu + Tomajun
Genre: Fluff
Rating: G

Summary: Yamapi has a slight issue with Toma's chumminess with his co-actors. But not for long.

Priority

Yamapi's cellphone clicked close loudly.

"That's Toma?" Koyama asked, flipping through a magazine at the other side of the room. Even without listening, Yamapi's instantaneous twinkle at the caller ID when he picked up could only translate to that name.

Yamapi didn't answer, and Koyama looked up to find a surprisingly dejected face.

"He's not free?"

One more scene to shoot for the PV and they'd have the rest of the day off, so naturally Yamapi would be seeking his other half -- a nickname that the members had only dared to use behind Yamapi's back, so far, but only because Ryo had not been around much due to his double-agent duties.

"Nope," Yamapi huffed. Disappointment had apparently loosened his inhibition (or mere possessiveness?) about sharing the details of his not-quite relationship.

"Too bad, huh," Koyama remarked carefully, and subtly reached for his own phone to secretly text Shige, in case Shige might mind him offering Yamapi to join their shopping plan...

Yamapi threw himself down on the couch beside Koyama, effectively canceling that intention. "Just when I thought Matsujun was less of a threat now that Arashi was so busy."

Koyama was glad at the openness, but still felt the need to throw a checking glance at the happily oblivious Tegomasu watching the partially edited PV on the computer. "He is meeting up with someone else?"

"Reunion outing with the drama cast, he said."

"Which one?" Koyama asked. Not surprising, that, but for one who hadn't been stalking the actor, it was difficult to keep track of the hangout buddies Toma had accumulated from his dramas.

That didn't apply to present companion, obviously. "Voice."

"Ah..." Koyama had hoped it was Majo Saiban, seeing as Yamapi was strangely much more nonchalant about Toma's outings with his female co-stars, with or without kissing scenes.

On the bright side, the sight of their leader in his genuinely sulky moment was always amusing, somewhat.

"Last time it was Oguri-kun," Yamapi muttered, picking on his jeans. "Then it was Ohno-kun, and now it's Eita-kun."

Koyama took a while to consider his reply. "It's not like you don't know how sociable he is from way back," he said. "You can do the same. Knowing a lot of people will help your career."

"But my co-stars are mostly girls." Yamapi sighed.

Koyama stared at him for a while, then laughed nervously. "Yamapi, although I'm perfectly okay with that, but to say it so openly..."

"Say what?" Yamapi looked at him.

Koyama coughed. "The, uh, lack of interest... in girls."

Yamapi rolled his eyes. "I just meant it would attract scandals if I went out with them."

"...Oh."

Yamapi stood up. "Are we ready to start now?" he asked the staff.

"Ah, certainly. One moment, please..."

Koyama quickly decided he could afford to bribe Shige out of any potential disapproval. "Yamapi, if you want to, later we are going to--"

Yamapi had apparently not heard him. "Tegoshi, stop molesting Masuda and get to position right now!"

Smiling indulgently at Masuda's red-faced denials and Tegoshi's halfhearted justification, Koyama thought the occasionally-bullying senpai wouldn't need his help to find release after all.

"Hey, Matsujun. What's up?" Toma made a quick gesture to excuse himself from the noisy table.

"Let's go for supper." The famously sadistic friend was uncompromising as usual.

"Aah, sorry, I'm having a gathering with the cast right now..."

"Until what time?"

"I'm probably leaving in an hour, but..."

"That's fine, I'm still in the studio too."

"I can't go." The normally accommodating friend, on the other hand, was firm this time. "I still have another plan after that."

"What a busy guy," Matsujun tsk-ed as he laid his usual trap. "So that's the kind of friend you are, huh?"

"Matsujun," Toma half-pleaded and half-laughed. "I really can't make it this time. Next time, okay? I'll call you."

"Will I need to secure a role in the same drama first?" Matsujun's smirk was almost audible. "Aha. So that's why Yamapi and you have been wanting the same acting job so badly."

"Well, no--" Toma answered almost innocently. "We don't really need that."

"...And I thought Ohmiya was corny," Matsujun muttered. "You'd better not forget to call me next time."

"I'll leave a message to you on Wink Up. Good enough?"

"Make it a passionate one."

"Um--"

"I'll be waiting. Bye now."

Toma was still frowning at the ensuing dial tone when an arm landed across his shoulders.

"We are continuing with karaoke." Eita gestured at the bunch heading towards the restaurant exit. "Let's go?"

"Sure." Toma followed along merrily.

--

Yamapi's finger found the button lazily and pressed it without looking. The ringing was bothersome to the dispirited ears. "Hello."

"Yo. Where are you now?"

He sat up instantly, recognizing the voice. "Home. Why?"

"I'm around Harajuku right now. Do you want to come over?"

Redundant question. "Eh? I thought you had an outing tonight."

"But you said you wanted to meet up." The cheer in Toma's voice dimmed a little, but enough for Yamapi's ears to pick up.

There was a pause, then Yamapi's laughter filled the receiver. "I'm really your weakness, huh?"

Toma sighed. "Whatever you say. I still need to get up early tomorrow, so how fast can you get here?"

--

It was late by the time Toma met him halfway, in a park surrounded by the scattered homeless.

"Thanks." Yamapi took the box of takoyaki handed to him. "Did you get the drinks also?"

"Hey, this is not a date," Toma protested laughingly as he settled on the bench beside his good friend. "You should have gone and bought them while I was getting these!"

Yamapi grinned and began attacking the food, with the occasional distraction of batting away Toma's hand. "You just had a hearty dinner, didn't you!"

"I won't get fat so easily," Toma argued, but sadly didn't manage to steal the treat still.

"What did you guys do for the outing?" Yamapi asked.

"Just dinner and karaoke. The girls suggested the amusement park at first, but the other guys heavily objected."

"You were not on their side?" Yamapi smirked.

Toma laughed. "I thought it could be fun too."

Yamapi huffed. "As long as you don't get photographed out of context while you're on the Ferris wheel or something."

Toma looked at him with a sympathetic understanding. "False rumors are not necessarily bad."

Yamapi shrugged. "I don't think we need that kind of publicity currently. But I won't let that stop me from doing what I want, in any case."

"Hm..." The flash of worry was hesitant.

"I bet you'll be safe, anyway," Yamapi said, grinning. "If you guys did go to the amusement park, you'd most likely end up sharing a gondola with Eita-kun... or whoever your buddy co-actor was at the moment."

"Of course not, the guys would insist that everyone pair up."

"But the girls would think it cute."

Toma laughed and slapped Yamapi's shoulder. "I won't go on the Ferris wheel with a guy so casually."

Yamapi looked thoughtful. "Didn't the two of us do that before?"

Toma's quickly averted gaze was almost tender. "It was different back when we were kids."

"Not that different," Yamapi said lightly. Not at all, in terms of his feelings.

"That's right, we haven't had many adventures since those Junior days," Toma said. "We should go and try something we haven't done before. Like that one time Ohno-kun took me fishing."

"Oh, did he," Yamapi responded idly as he stood up and walked to the trash bin to dispose of the empty takoyaki box.

Toma followed him. "It was really fun."

"I know." Yamapi continued towards the vending machine. "Tokyo Bay, wasn't it?" He fetched the dispensed can and gave it to Toma.

"Oh, thanks. Yeah. Ah, I told you about it before, didn't I? I can go there again with you, if you're interested."

"Ah... but I promised Tsuyoshi-kun to let him teach me fishing someday." Yamapi leaned on the side of the machine, drinking from his own can.

"I see. Then you should go with senpai for that. Hm, what other activities are there..."

Yamapi glanced at him. "You're asking me?" A sudden mischief popped into his mind. "How about." With his free hand, Yamapi pulled Toma's arm towards him. "This?" Then he kissed him.

Toma sort of froze.

Yamapi took off the contact, but didn't pull back. "Didn't you mean something like a mutual activity?" he asked in a low voice.

Toma's eyes re-focused, and he glanced around briefly before looking back straight at Yamapi. "...I did." Then he kissed him back.

Yamapi smiled. "I do hope this doesn't give you ideas on what things to do on your outing with your co-stars."

Toma frowned, scandalized. "I obviously can't do this with any other guy."

"Good," Yamapi said. "Because I'm selfish like that."
