Prompted by the recent surge in Tomapi-ness, I'm clearing out old drafts sitting on my PC. The theme for this one is rather cliche, but those boys wouldn't leave my brain until I wrote it out, so. ^^0
Disclaimer: This writing is fictional and has no commercial purpose. Characters are real persons belonging to themselves.
Pairing: Tomapi; slight RyoPi as plot device

Morning Call
"Anoo, Ryo-chan?"
"Yes?" Ryo stopped, allowing Koyama to catch up with him.
"If it's okay, could you call Yamapi? He's in the dressing room. Since we're starting soon..."
Ryo frowned, and changed his direction towards said room. "It's okay, but... didn't you just come out from there?"
Koyama followed. "Uhm, he's sleeping, and I called him but couldn't seem to wake him up. I didn't dare to..."
"What, just shake him, that's fine," Ryo said nonchalantly, opening the door with one hand. "Yamapi?"
The man in question was lying on the cushioned bench, an arm protecting his eyes from the light while the other hung from the edge of the chair. He didn't move.
"Oi, Yamapi," Ryo called louder, shaking Yamapi's shoulder.
"Hmmmh?" Yamapi stirred slightly.
"Wake up please~~ We have less than fifteen minutes to stand by."
They waited, but there was no further movement.
Ryo looked at Koyama. Koyama's eyes said, "See?"
Ryo raised an eyebrow, and squatted down beside Yamapi. He looked thoughtful for a while, then put a firm hand on Yamapi's waist, his arm resting on Yamapi's stomach.
"Eh?" Koyama was confused, but then Yamapi stirred again, and this time his hand left his face to rest on Ryo's arm.
Ryo grinned, and squeezed down on Yamapi's waist. Koyama choked on a chuckle, half-heartedly reproaching, "Ryo-chan!"
Yamapi's body turned towards them, his eyelids lifting slowly. "Do you need to go already?" he mumbled.
"Yep, sleepyhead, *we* need to go now," Ryo chirped.
All in an instant, Yamapi's half-lidded eyes sprang open, his upper body jerked up, and Ryo's arm was flung away.
"Good morning," Ryo smiled sunnily.
"'Morning' not," Yamapi grunted at the sarcasm. He looked around, searching for the clock. "Oh no. Is it time already?"
"In about ten minutes," Koyama answered quickly. "I already told the rest to stand by."
"Since the leader is a lit~~tle hard to wake up," Ryo teased, standing up.
Yamapi threw him a pout on his way to the mirror. "I'm sorry, okay?"
"Yamapi does fall asleep quite often recently, ne," Koyama commented sympathetically. "The filming must be very tiring."
"But if you notice," Ryo said meaningfully, "it always happened on the days after he stayed back when we finished practice."
Yamapi dropped his comb.
"Eh? That's right," Koyama recalled. "You didn't join us for dinner either. Are you not eating and sleeping well?"
"No, no, I'm fine," Yamapi replied quickly, picking up the comb for one last touch on his hair. "Let's go."
On their way out, Ryo pulled Yamapi aside, letting Koyama walk ahead of them. "Once in a while is fine," he said lightly, "but you should time it better, no?"
"I know, sorry. I intended to rest for only a few minutes..."
"Nah. I mean your dinner dates."
Yamapi immediately looked defensive. "There wasn't--"
Ryo waved it off. "Whatever you call it, then. If I'm around to wake you up it's all right, but the others are a bit reserved towards you, you know."
"About that," Yamapi protested, "I'm grateful and all, but you, don't use such a weird way to wake me up!"
"Well, it seems to be the only way to get you reacting nowadays," Ryo smirked.
"...Pervert."
He shrugged. "It's not my fault you couldn't tell my hand from Toma's."
Yamapi froze.
Ryo turned back at him, grinning. "Hurry up."
"Wh--what are you saying?" Yamapi sputtered.
"Yeah, yeah. I ran into him at the gates yesterday. Said he was dropping by to meet some 'friend', but then no-one else was still around when we left, was there?"
Yamapi blinked, then resumed his steps with a resigned sigh.
"I won't say they are dates," he murmured. "He brings takeouts."

Extra
(a.k.a. an excuse for more Toma)
"Toma?"
"Hmmm?"
"I think you need to know that... Ryo-chan knows."
"Eh? Knows what?"
"That you're, ah, sleeping over from time to time."
"Oh. That's right, I bumped into him at the studio the other day. It'd been a long time since we last talked, I felt a little bad."
"You didn't mention you were... picking me up?"
"Don't worry, I didn't, as you told me to. Though I really think they won't make fun of you for that... It's not like you're afraid of going home alone. I'm the one who's imposing on you."
"Hmm... but anyway, he figured out that you were there to follow me home."
"Ah. Okay." Pause. "That's fine, right?"
"Of course." Pause. "After all, nobody said anything when Oguri-kun said on TV that he slept over *on your bed*."
"Eh, wait, he made it sound like, uh, well... but it's not like that, really..."
"I *know*." Flick.
"Oww~~ Hey, you're getting better at aiming."
"Okay, okay, sleep now. You're leaving early again tomorrow, right?"
"Uh-uh. How about you, do you need me to wake you up before I leave?"
"Errrm, just before you leave, okay? You can go ahead and shower first..."
Snort. "Lazy pig."
Stuck-out tongue. "We start later in the morning, so why not."
Much later, in fact, but he certainly didn't prefer being waken up by an alarm clock when he could have it done manually.
"Why do you need so much sleep anyway?"
"I won't get much if you keep me up talking. Sleep already."
"Right, right~~ Jaa, good night."
"Good night."
The light switch flicked.
The futon rustled as Yamapi settled back in his position. But rather than closing his eyes, he let them slowly adjust to the darkness, until they could fully trace out the quiet face in front of him.
He smiled to himself, resisting the usual urge to pinch Toma's nose.
"Who says I get to sleep that much?"
