I'm looking for constructive criticism on my painting of floydiankate. I will take anything anyone is willing to give (aside from praise; I don't like praise); should you feel like just saying "You suck," I'm cool with that. However, I'm looking for maybe some advice on where to go. I think I've just been staring at it for so long that I'm sick of looking ( Read more... )

The face. There's something not quite 'right' with the face, and I think it's the starting with the nose, that's ...perhaps too high, but I definitely lean towards the opinion that the eyes aren't quite level with each other. And the forehead seems too something. Or, well, the forehead could work, but the cheeks are quite full. Is there anyway to take away from the cheeks some? The hands are amazing, lots of great detail. The brow area, of the forehead, seems swollen. Where are the eyebrows? That could be why it seems odd right now.

:/ I dunno, I'm not a painter or anything, and I don't have much drawing/sketching ability...sorry!

A lot of what you said is what my instructor said before I started putting some of the paint down. The thing with the eyes is that because she is in 3-point perspective (where I'm looking up at the subject), they have to wrap around the sphere of the head, so they are supposed to look a bit uneven. When I had them even with each other, I was actually told to fix the right eye. So I kind of did just as a basic outline in paint that can and will be tweeked ( ... )

I agree with the first comment. the forehead is just a little too big also, the mouth is a bit too small. I think the eyes and nose are great and the think if the mouth and forehead were fixed the cheeks wouldn't look so disproportionate or
'swollen", lol. but seriously, awesome awsome progress so far. =D

Glad to have your approval, but I'm not going to lie: I'm kind of sick of looking at you for the time being. :) I've since moved all of your features up a bit to make the forehead shorter in perspective and your neck longer (your neck was looking way too short to me). It's starting to look a lot more like you now. :D
