Actually got up and went to Naginata today, as opposed to the last three or four Saturdays, which I wimped out on for various reasons. It was short one, which made it a bit easier, and we only did about 15 minutes of work in bogu. Jak, Sorry to hear about your neck being an "issue"... it could have many causes, physical or emotional. Anybody in particular been a "pain in the neck" lately? LOL Besides me! *wink ( ... )

Thanks for all your suggestions! I don't have a bath here at my house in melb, but I'm going home for a few days soon, so I might try some of those things. I got through last night with an ibuprofen gel, which helped a lot. I was thinking about the tennis ball thing, but a) I still don't own one, and (b) I thought it would hurt a lot. Still, I'll see ( ... )

I will recommend he pick up the Lonely Planet book if he can find it. And suggest he learn some katakana. I think he'll be there a week or two only, and he is going with another friend from Maui who does not speak Japanese either. They will be going to Tokyo for sure, not sure about other communities.

As to RSAMD....ZOMG SCOTLAND. I'd go solely on that, well except I have no actual talent in anything drama or music related...details! details!

They have a postgraduate MA (masters) program. From what I've read online, it's pretty theory-based, though. One of the topics (Arts in Education) would neatly dovetail the two disparate sections of my life. Too bad they don't have a one or two year postgraduate technical degree, I could think of nothing better than going to Glasgow to do some technical training. Ah well. I'm too burnt-out on uni at the moment... I need a break from that anyway, which is why I want some plain, normal work, or some hands-on technical training next year... :) But damn, RSAMD just looks so damn exciting. If I ever get over to visit my sister, I'll have to visit RSAMD while I'm there.
