Forgive me for the randomness of the story...can't decide on the plot. :D

Twas New Year's Eve.

Akanishi Jin was rounding the city inside his black SUV, the latest of foreign songs playing on the stereo in his car and his body moving along the beat of the music. Every nod, every cock of his head emphasized the words of the song although the words barely made it to his brain to register the meaning. Actually, Jin was just playing the music to keep away the loneliness. Driving around by yourself is simply boring - no, that's not it - it's not boring, it's lonely. Really lonely. And the music? Well, it makes up for company.

Snow was gently falling around in tiny specks of white covering idle cars and passers-by in dusty white. Jin stopped by on a red light. Tapping his fingers on the wheel, his eyes glanced around and saw couples walking by intimately, families holding hands as they crossed the streets, some people who are alone but tiny hints of smile on their faces...He never expected people can this be cheery even if it's kinda cold. But hell, it's New Year's Eve and everyone has a reason to be happy. Imagine the celebration that awaits you home.

Ahh. New Year's Eve. Nothing can beat celebrating it with love ones.

Speaking of love ones, Jin's mind wandered on a certain someone. Quickly pulling out his phone, he scrolled down on a name in his phonebook. He was deciding if he should call or not. Still unsure though. Recently they had a nasty spat after Christmas day and Jin knew it was his fault for being jealous over something so trivial but the damage is done already.

Sigh. He really needs to control how he feels. He had almost had enough of the fights and the last one almost broke him in half. Good thing he walked out for a distraction hoping to cool off his anger but when he came back he found out he was locked out. Days passed by and they still hadn't talked to each other.

Oh how he missed his Kazu.

Jin stared at his phone, Kazuya's image winking back at him. Damn. He really needed to see him. He can't have a sullen New Year's Eve just because of a fight. He was brought out of his stupor after a blaring honk behind him signaled that the light has turned green. Shaking his head and throwing his phone in the passenger seat, he stepped on the gas and drove to one specific destination.

It's time to go home.

Kazuya sat by the window ledge, sniffling. Stupid cold coming down on him on New Year's Eve! Kazuya continued to sniffle, his fingers fiddling with the fleece blanket draped on him. He was wearing pajamas since he was just at home, spending time with his family.

The Kamenashi household though, was abuzz with activity. Mrs. Kamenashi was and her daughter-in-law was busy preparing the meals; Yuya was fooling around with his niece; Koji, Yujiro and Mr. Kamenashi were watching something on TV. Kazuya on the other hand, remained where he was: stuck on the window ledge.

Tuning out the noise, Kazuya's mind went back on a certain memory. Just after Christmas, he and Jin had another round of their infamous lover's quarrel where Jin walked out on him. Nursing a broken heart and a bruised ego, Kazuya sniffled all through out the holidays refusing to go out nor answer the phone calls he gets, he had his mother answer them for him or he simply turned off his phone.

"Dear, it’s New Year's eve...you should be happy..." His mother's voice trailed. Kazuya turned his head and pouted at his mom.

"No pouting. Now get dressed, I hate to see my famous Kazuya so under-dressed I might not claim you as my son." His mom teased.

Kazuya smiled at his mom and stood up to get dressed.

"I'll be out soon, 'kay. Thanks mom, you're the best."

Jin was outside Kazuya's apartment. How stupid of him. He should have known the younger boy have gone home to his family after all it is New Year's eve and New Year is meant o be celebrated with the family. How can he have forgotten that?

He had his busy schedule to blame for that though, but still.

Sigh.

Jin hated being like this. He hated living up to being Bakanishi. Letting out a frustrated sigh, Jin started down the hall towards the elevator. He's going to see his Kazu and celebrate New Year with him - and his future in-laws.

It's thirty minutes to twelve. Jin cursed loudly at the slippery roads. He could not drive fast enough to reach the Kamenashi residence. And he hated it. He knew the Kamenashi’s would welcome him and help him patch things up with Kazuya, more so that it is New Year's Eve. He just hoped Kazu will forgive him.

Kazuya came out of his room decently dressed in casual jeans and a dark blue Henley. His niece toddled up to him and grabbed his arm towards a vacant seat in the living room demanding that he play with her. His brothers had already gone into the kitchen to help setting up the table leaving their father alone in the living room.

Kazuya sat in the sofa and was about to talk to his little niece when the young girl was called out by her mother who immediately ran out of the room. Kazuya huffed yet smiled at his disappearing niece.

Mr. Kamenashi cleared his throat to catch his son's attention. Kazuya turned around to look at his father.

"Well...how are you?" Mr. Kamenashi asked.

"I'm fine dad...it's just a cold, it won't kill me-"

"I'm not asking about the cold Kazu...how are you feeling with Jin?"

"...Oh. Fine, I guess." Kazuya answered idly staring outside the window.

"You know you should have answered his calls. Poor boy, he kept calling but you wouldn't answer him. It's normal for couples to have a fight."

"He's getting out of line dad..."

"Anybody who is madly in love does get out of line some times."

Kazuya stared at his dad long and hard. He could not imagine his dad speak words like that. Not even in fantasy.

"It'll be New Year soon, don't let your pride get to you or you'll lose your love. You know what they say, seize the day." And with a gulp of the beer in his hand, Mr. Kamenashi ended his talk with his son.

Just then a series of knocks was heard. Kazuya stood up to get the door, whoever uninvited it is. Opening the door, he was surprised to see Jin standing outside their porch a bit flush from the cold.

"Jin..."

"Hey." Jin greeted with a tiny smile.

A hushed silence fell between them. Jin looked at Kazu while the younger boy looked back at him.

"What are you doing here?" Kazuya asked.

"I came to see you. I decided that I wanted to spend the night with you...and your family."

"Oh... what about your family?"

"They were on a trip, remember? Look, Kazuya...I know what I did was wrong. I should not have walked out on you. I'm sorry. I was an idiot. I let my anger and my jealousy get me. I'm really sorry, I really am. Can you forgive me? I can't stand doing you wrong and it'll be New Year soon and I want to spend it with you. I...I...I love you and I'm sorry." Jin spoke the words as if his heart would burst. His cheeks darkened in color not due to the cold but due to the fact that his love for the younger boy is overwhelming him.

Kazuya looked up at the taller man, his eyes shining. "I'm sorry too. I'm an idiot for arguing with you. I don't want to fight with you anymore. I just want us to be happy."

JIn smiled. "I'm glad. Promise we'll consider each others feelings...we'll talk about our problems and not fight over them. I love you Kazuya, I swear my life on you."

Jin stepped closer and hugged the younger man.

"I love you too Jin. Let's get inside before my family wonders what took me long."

Just as the two of them turned to walk inside the living room, they were greeted by the Kamenashi family with smiles and the teasing and the handy camera at hand.

“C’mon let’s celebrate the New Year together, Jin, Kazu…then we’ll go at the backyard and light some fireworks and say our resolutions for this year.” Koji declared.

Jin smiled sincerely and took Kazuya’s hand in his. Together they walked towards the awaiting family members with renewed vigor in love.
