So. Uh.

I broke a window today. Ahahaha.

My right hand's a bit scratched up, but I'm fine other than that. At least my bed wasn't under it, so it's not like there's glass all over it or anything...

Woohoo! I got bard_linn's birthday present for a good price. :D ( Read more... )

I say go for it, since the head librarian/hiring manager pointed it out, and I'm assuming that she knows about your education and career goals.

GO FOR IT!
Social faux pas in OUR academia? It's (WAY) more likely than you think <3
Good luck~~~

Also boo @ your hand :( Hope it feels better soon...

Sort of a strange question esp. to be asking so early, but do you have a b-day wishlist or anything?

Not online, at the moment -- and most of what I really want it kind of impossible, like "a reboot of R2 that follows closer to the original plan" or "all my student loans to disappear" or "equal marriage to become legal at least in my state." ^^;

I'd think it would only be a faux pas if the library associate position had been posted at the time you applied for the page's position - but since it wasn't available until just now and you had no way of knowing it was going to be coming up, how could you have expressed your interest in that position over a page's position? It's more like saying, "I'm willing to work for you in whatever capacity is needed (which is why you took the page's position), but I'd rather be doing this than the other, if there's a spot open)". Plus, I know plenty of substitutes and part-time employees in schools (myself included) that are pretty much waiting for something closer to what we originally wanted to open up.

So yeah, totally go for it.

I think it'd only be considered a social faux pas if you were applying for the librarian associate position at an entirely other library. Since it's in the SAME library and the head librarian pointed it out to you, you'd be completely in the clear as far as social aspects are concerned. It's only a faux pas if you were going to completely leave that library in all capacities to work somewhere else.
