I believe this was the first solo Bart episode I watched and I think this episode (and stuff I read Online) lead my to believe that Bart was the more "serious brother". To tell you the truth the more I watch of the show the more I disagree with that. Although Bart definitely had more of the serious episodes he had his fair share of the comic ones ( Read more... )

This is actually a solo Bart episode I have seen, when strongly urged to do so by Deana. I believe I agree with you that Bart doesn't really seem like the "serious" Maverick. All Mavericks can do serious when they have to, but Bart seems to like being a goof-off, too.

Patricia Barry plays femme fatales so well, and I think this is her most disturbing character. Ugh, she's disgusting. And yet if she's really not all there in the head, it's kind of sad, too. I feel really bad for her poor husband, though. He was such a nice guy.

Episodes where characters descend into mob behavior tend to make me rage. This one is very unsettling and disturbing. I loved when Bart was finally proven innocent and how the people realized what they'd become. It was very satisfying and hopefully it made them better people and not to quick to judge in the future.

It was weird for me to watch Patricia Barry in Two Beggars on Horseback because I associated her so much with her character in this episode that it took me awhile to take to the more light and funny character she played. From the very early in episode you could tell something was wrong with her when Bart is joking about having secrets about poker playing and she takes it that he understands some deep dark secret she is trying to hide.

I like that touch that Bart isn't privy to something wrong with her that we may be, maybe because her husband and her to a degree had been so good taking care of him and he probably didn't want to see anything wrong.

I like how you have a more positive spin on the ending than I do. But you are right at least they didn't kill anyone although they came close. Perhaps they can learn something from this experience.

I saw Beggars long before I saw this one, but I'm used to her playing humorous characters because one of her femme fatales on Perry Mason is rather amusing.

It was definitely unsettling how Kitty kept thinking Bart meant things other than he did. You're probably right that Bart didn't want to think anything was wrong.

Maybe not positive so much, per se, as when I find it satisfying, it's that I like seeing nasty characters realizing they've been nasty. It feels delicious after they've been so rotten. I would hope they would learn something from the experience.
