2 weeks with Big Finish: Main Range, New & Old Doctors and Friends

So in the past two weeks I delved deeper into the Big Finish Main range. As I said in previous posts I didn't want to listen to all my 2nd Doctor audios and then having nothing left so in the past 2 weeks I listened to no 2 Doctor audios. Most of what I listened to was in the 1st 50 of the main range, although I listened to one companion chronicle ( Read more... )

Storm Warning is pretty much your standard introductory story, yeah. I think I'm more fond of it than you due partly to nostalgia - as someone who discovered Doctor Who via the TV Movie when it first aired in 1996, I remember how incredibly exciting it was for McGann to be back and I listened to it over and over.

I'd say you're going to have to watch the TV Movie at some point, mainly because the primary reason to watch it is McGann and he doesn't disappoint. No matter how ropey the rest of it is (the plot makes little sense), the Eighth Doctor is truly wonderful in it, and it's just such a weird curiosity of a thing overall that nonetheless gave Doctor Who a shot in the arm of New Ideas until the show came back in 2005.

As you liked Spare Parts, I'd recommend Loups-Garoux from the same writer. It's a really magical, lyrical story and cemented my Fifth Doctor love - one of my favourite Doctor Who stories in any medium.

The Marian Conspiracy is wonderful, yes! The same writer, the brilliant Jacqueline Rayner, gives us another Six/ ( ... )

I probably will eventually watch the movie especially since not only is Paul McGann going to be a guest at the convention I am going to but Yee Jee Tso as well who was in that movie and it might be nice to watch something he was actually in.

But my main reason for starting with 8th audio adventures is I want a chance to experience each Doctor at his best and that sounds like it is audio for McGann and in fact I wish I had done that for Colin Baker as well.

I am looking forward to the pirates and I also enjoyed Transit to Venus by the same writer.Probably the only thing I didn't like from her was the Suffering

Also thanks for the Loups-Garoux recommendation, I also did end up buying Fires of Vulcan and will listen to that when I decide to listen to The One Doctor to make it a Mel week.
