Agreed with much of this! Chihayafuru is really an incredible series, and I am so excited for the second season! I really loved Tsuritama, too, and Hyouka was definitely enjoyable. Of course, I love the whole Natsume series.
I haven't seen Shirokuma Café yet, but I'm planning on watching it! Also Psycho Pass.
I agree, Sakamichi was a little disappointing overall, but (of course) the music was great! And especially the Cultural Festival. I'm starting to notice that a lot of my favorite series have great Cultural Festival episodes, haha.
Shirokuma Cafe is just a series that makes me incredibly happy. I don't think it is for everyone but I think you would enjoy it. :)
I just edited my post to say one of the reasons I am enjoying Psycho Pass so much is because of a really interesting villain. Although I also really like the two main protagonists and many of the side characters. As far as casts go I think it might be Gen's best. Although the first few episodes are a bit slow.
And yeah it's been a good year for cultural festivals. I think Hyouka's was the best this year (and actually one of the best overall for anime) but the festival episodes in Sakaimichi no Apollon were also some of its highlights. The series kind of floundered in the end, it really needed more than one cour to tell it's complete story in my opinion (and unfortunately they removed some of the best character development moments in the manga because of condensed time).
I will probably start reading Chihayafuru after the 2nd season, hoping the scans will be caught up by then (since I know they skipped ahead) and I think at this point I want to see how the story ends
