Shiki: Comprehensive Thoughts

I've been thinking a lot about the show (which goes to show it did have an impact on me, it even gets a tag) and I wanted to write out a post on my many thoughts on the characters, themes, and events of the show. Yay you watched Shiki!

Seishin wanted to escape the life that everyone expected of him, to become his father's successor as the head monk. Either he commits suicide or the village has to die out completely so there's no one left to bury (he can abandon his temple duties). This is why I think he chose not to save the village.
Toshio was similar at first, but his pride kept him going.

You are right about Seishin and that would also explain his inaction in the beginning because he didn't want to admit this....argh so I guess he did get what he wants in the end. Is it because he was finally honest about his feelings? Even Megumi doesn't get to escape (although she was annoying I felt a little sorry for her).

As I said above Seishin is an interesting character but he annoys me a lot too. I think he got off too easy compared to everyone else.

Toshio has pride in being a doctor but he didn't really save anyone in the end only was responsible for death.
