James Mason & Cats

Jun 29, 2010 13:01

Not so long ago I posted about James Mason and how he was a cat aficionado. I also mentioned that he had published a book with his wife called The Cats in Our Lives. The book is OOP but I managed to get a copy from my library through that wonderful thing called ILL and I finished reading it yesterday ( Read more... )

It was a good book, not a masterpiece by any means but it was an interesting look into a celebrity's life that was not your typical biography. :)

I only found out about the book recently as well when I was looking up things about James Mason. I guess the fact that it is OOP makes it not so well known.

I've heard about this book but never seen it - those illustrations are so cute! Thanks for taking the pics and sharing.

The daughter of Mason's eye doctor told a story somewhere on line about how when she was little she really wanted a cat - and that one day the butler or some sort of servant for Charlie Chaplin turned up at her house with a kitten that was from a litter produced from one of Chaplin's and one of Mason's cats! Don't know if it's true, but it's a fun story.

Two Mason movies on tonight on TCM - Odd Man OUt and The Man Between, btw - you've probably already seen them, but can't have too much of a good thing.

Oh I am glad you liked them. The book is OOP but can probably be found at a library. That's how I got my copy (but not to keep sadly). :)

That story actually sounds plausible considering Mason and Chaplin lives quite close to each other and both had cats.

I love both movies (and they are probably what made me officially a Mason fan). I recorded them both to keep. Everything turned out fine with Odd Man Out but I missed literally the last minute of The Man Between. I am so upset. And it doesn't look like TCM is playing the movie again anytime soon. :(

Well I am going to keep Odd Man Out and hope for the best for The Man Between so I can record it again.
