I guess the characters we can't see are the characters who are not with them physically but still fighting with them in spirit. And that would include the characters who have passed on and the ones that are somewhere else. :)
I am just going to have to hope for an artbook to get a nice version in color. It's such an awesome pic. At first I didn't notice all the people you could only half see but now it makes the picture even more awesome. They are all fighting together whether they are physically there or just there in spirit. ♥
It's not childish or melodramatic at all. I know it's ending but at the same time not having the chapter to look forward to every month has not really hit me. I am still in complete denial. :(

Same as me, everything else I was into this long turned to suck before the end. But FMA has never let me down. I love it so much.

Is it just me or are most of the characters you can't see actually already dead characters?
[Except for Winry.. Havoc... Pinako (that I just found lol), that kind of creeps me out xD;]
