The Night of the Hunter is one of the most inventive films ever. I love it completely. It's creepy and awesome.

It's funny Rani's thoughts about not measuring about to Maria actually were the same as my own thoughts, so her issues really made sense to me and this episode helped me connect with her more.

The problem of the episode for me was that I couldn't sympathyse with Rani's inferiority complex cause in the back of my mind I was screaming "THAT'S RIGHT! YOU ARE NOT GOOD AS MARIA! YOU WILL NEVER BE AS GOOD AS MARIA!". I know it's very petty of me to resent Rani for not being Maria but I can't help it. Alan and Maria were my favourite characters and every SJA episode without them it's like someone stabbing me on the heart. *sigh*

I definitely prefer Maria to Rani as well. Maria just portrayed a normal everyday girl so perfectly and she was very easy to relate to and sympathize with. I definitely don't feel the same affection for Rani but I am trying not to compare her to Maria but to see her as her own character and part of the group that includes Maria. I think this episode did help me with that. So I hope it continues with the next episodes that don't focus on her.

And I feel really bad that Laughton never knew how much people would grow to appreciate his film. But I suppose that happens a lot with artists.
