This felt like a transition episode to me, both in that we're wrapping up the Dublith/Devil's Nest arc and forging into new territory in terms of divergence from the first anime next week. Nonetheless, I thought that the Wrath/Greed fight was well done, although Martel's death had less impact than it should've, considering how little we got to know her character. The blood that gushes from Al's armor is one of the more disturbing images of the series; almost as though Al himself is bleeding, which of course he cannot.
Yay for flashback to Al at the Doors! Yay for creepy flashback to Al within the body they transmuted! Yay for cargo pants! And most of all, yay for Xingian characters and a new manga-faithful arc next week! ^_^ I am pleased.
I think most of the issues (not feeling the connection to Greed and the Devil Nest Crew) was a product of how poorly the stuff in episode 13 was adapted. The arc really needed 1 more episode, but at least it ended well.
And I forgot to mention it above but I was also really impressed with Martel's seiyuu here. Even though we didn't get much of her in this series I definitely felt for her because of that performance.
I just hope the rest of the series keeps up with the quality of this episode. Then I would have very little to complain about.
