Gurren Lagann Dub Review

Well okay I didn't actually watch every episode (staying up to 12 when you work 9-5 is not always easy) and I missed most of the last episode (thought it would air next week). But since Gurren Lagann has ended it's run once again, this time on Sci-fi, I thought I would give my final impression of the dub.

I watched the dub epis last night too actually I found it by accident right as the dream sequence started and just had to watch the rest. now mind you I still havent finished the sub yet but I was so excited to see the ending I watched it and I really did like it. Only thing that shocked me was Nia, I knew what happened to her but I didnt know it happened on the altar!!! Omg my heart bled for Simon. I caught a few dub epis and Ill admit it was one of the better dubs Ive seen. I liked Viral's voice and I still on the fence with Kamina but after his sub seiyuu its hard to top that.

The last Nia/Simon scene always makes cry ;___________; though I was sad it happened I love the ending.

I definitely don't think Kamina is the best dub performance but also not as bad as some fans make him out to be. I actually sort of feel bad for Kyle Herbert because you can tell how excited he was to get this role and everyone keeps saying he sucks. Well Kamina was always going to be a tough role to play.

Why didn't you like Anti-Spiral? I thought he was good, especially when he went all-out during the final battle. :O

He was okay in the fight scenes but his voice didn't fit the character for me. The Japanese Anti-Spiral had this sort of creepy quality to it. I can still here that voice in my head but the dub voice was forgettable.

Hmmm I'm actually rethinking buying the dub DVDs right now. :D; Because the main thing I was hoping for were extras like the staff commentaries and from the looks of it, there aren't any? So I'm gonna wait a little while longer before I decide to spend any more money. At least I know I'm definitely not getting the LE versions, because I don't like the box and come on, a backpack?
