Fantastic Children Collection

Feb 26, 2008 10:34

So I bought the Fantastic Children collection today. It's being released on March 4th. I really shouldn't because I really don't have the money but well I had to console myself somehow that it looks like the first Gurren Lagann DVD will not be coming out today. damn you ADV. Also I got the collection for $34.00 and that is pretty much a steal (and ( Read more... )

Gurren Lagann (+Hikago) was the only anime I was planning on buying until Emma came out in June. Now I have to console myself by just buying manga and other GL-related stuff. D:

I love that cover. Almost makes me want to buy the thing even though I have all the singles ahaha.

...Come to think of it, FUNimation said they would release Darker than BLACK in the Spring when they first licensed it, right? Haven't heard anything since. O.o

I think they should have made the cover with their normal hair color. It still would have been just as lovely and not a spoiler. Well it doesn't effect me but if I want to show it to someone I'll have to cover the box. XD

You know I think anime companies hurt their cause by taking forever to release things. People lose interest and move onto other things. You lose the people who are not as big fans and who when they first watch something think they must have this now. However over time they realize maybe they don't need this as much as they thought and wait for cheaper box sets.

Yeah really, I'm not nearly into DtB as much as I was when it got licensed. :( By the time they release it, a year would have passed since the fansubs came out. It's old news by then.

...Though I'll probably still buy a couple of DVDs if the packaging and menus are as awesome as the Japanese releases. >.>

Jesus christ, I thought the official Japanese site was enough of a monstrous spoilerfest on its own (even when the show hadn't AIRED once you watched 2-3 episodes and read the site a good amount could be guessed) - but that cover?!?! That's one of the best moments in the series, when their hair changed colour, but they kind of spoil it majorly by showing it on the cover... :(

Thoma's transformation is my favorite moment of the series and I am pretty sure Thoma's hair doesn't change until the end of episode 24 (if I am remembering correctly)so they basically spoil one of the most major twists at the end. I mean yeah you know something is up with Thoma well before that...but still. At least they can't write who Thoma really is on the cover.

Oh, I haven't seen Fantastic Children yet--would you recommend it? I'll add it to my long list if so.

I'm mad/upset about Gurren Lagann, too. I know ADV is having problems, but this is clearly going to be there next big hit--what's the delay? Though, if it is licensing issues like I've heard it is, I suppose there isn't much they can do. Still. I want my GL DVDs! They should have worked this out ahead of time. D<

I agree--the anime industry doesn't treat us very well. If they want us to buy DVDs instead of just downloading fansubs, they need to get the anime out there FAST, with no delays, accurate subtitles, and overall make it a good quality product worth our money. D: They're quite bad at this, especially the speed. By the time they release the first DVD of a lot of series, the fandom is usually all but dead. There are exceptions, but a lot of the time that's what happens.

Agreed with Honey & Clover and Ouran! I want to see Toward the Terra, too--it's on my list. XD

By then only hardcore fans remain and others move on. And they wonder why their DVDs don't sell well.

I recommend both Fantastic Children and Toward the Terra. Although with Fantastic Children I was a little upset with the epilogue, the rest of the series is very good. And it has a gorgeous soundtrack.

And Toward the Terra is another must see. It's ashame because both the series are really underappreciated.
