I really should get around to watching that. My roommate has episodes, and if I like it as much as I think I will, I'd definitely buy, regardless of the cover.

Well when you watch I will be curious to know what you think. :)

That is horrid. I just looked at the Princess Tutu DVD boxset cover, is Rue a lingerie model now? I'll probably still buy it anyway, Deep Discount DVD has it for $34.

They do have that image on one of the single DVDs but I don't think that is the right image to sell the entire series. I know they want to show that the show is darker than the title would let you assume but I think you need your main character (Ahiru) on the cover. But if I didn't have the singles I would still buy it too. :)

At least it has the leads on the cover? (unlike the horrid Princess Tutu boxset. I am also SO glad I have the single dvds)

I guess this one doesn't annoy me as much because GL always reminded me of early 90s anime and now it has a tacky cover just like a lot of those anime did. XD;

FAIL to anyone refusing to buy a dvd due to a cover. If they really want a different dvd cover, they should get scans of the Japanese cover and print them out to put in their dvds.

I have to say that if I didn't know anything about GL though, I wouldn't take a second look at it with that cover. No I'm not excusing people who have already seen it but that is absolutely awful. Even the logo is just heinous. Why not use the original dvd covers? It annoys me more than the PT one because PT's dvd covers at least were nice, just the boxset is fail.

I hope they get enough bad feedback that they change it, like they did with the title of that Utawhatever show.

Oh I didn't mean that I excused the horrid covers. I'm just not going to be all "omg I refuse to buy this!" like apparently people are about it. I do hope they change it in favor of bringing in a new audience though. Especially since most of the people who watched it via fansubs will cop-out and not buy licensed dvds :/

Oh yeah if I like a series I'm not going to not buy it because of the cover (and fans will so just use it as an excuse not to support the industry), but the ugly is so great that honestly I can't see many people picking this one up on a whim. They'd probably think it's a re-release of a bad obscure late nineties series like Knights of Ramune or Jewel Hunter Bem Lime.

I am reeeaaally hoping that cover is just temporary. Because ANN and Rightstuf don't have the cover up yet on their sites. And because the Japanese DVD covers are just godly.

Of course, I'll still be buying the DVDs anyway, but THERE IS A SIMON/NIA COVER FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. I WILL CRY IF WE DON'T GET THAT. ;__;

I know. I mean god ADV don't change something that was already perfect.

I mean there was no way we would get all the DVDs because there is always less released in the US which my wallet is happy about but I was only worried about which DVDs they would cut I didn't think I had to worry about them cutting all the DVDs. I really hope this is not the final cover.

It could possibly be a placeholder, mainly because there's no "Volume 1" text on it, but that could just be me being optimistic. I don't mind the image, but the logo is utterly craptastic. We'll have to wait and see, I guess.

I really hope it is just a place holder but why would they design a place holder. Just use a random picture. Of course you might even get a more suitable cover in Europe. Unless you are buying the R1 DVDs.

We get the same covers for ADV's R2 discs as the R1s, so whatever the cover ends up looking like, we'll be getting it as well. >_>

As for whether I'm going to be importing, I think so - mainly because it's cheaper, but I want the box with volume 2!

Well if you see my entry above apparently that cover was not the final one. We will be getting the original Japanese covers for GL over here. :)
