adventures at the MT

I went to the MT Supermarket, a fabulous Asian grocery store, over the weekend. This store is a far cry from the small, cramped Chinese grocery where my mom used to shop: the owner didn't speak much English and few items had English packaging, so my mom just figured it out as best she could. Newflower natural grocer's on william cannon have umeboshi! It's in the asian isle. They also have amazing produce. :D

That's just a couple blocks from our house, so I shop there pretty frequently. And I can tell you, the layout is very odd. I'm not sure what they have in mind, but if you spend an hour and go down every aisle, there are many products you will spot 3 or 4 or even more times. And not just individual products, but whole ranges of products.

Here's a coffee section. Here's a coffee and tea section. Here's an instant coffee and instant tea and other instant beverage section. Huge overlap in products between these sections. And then some things are off on their own.

At least of the ones I've interacted with, the younger people that work there speak better English than I do, though they are disaffected youths and might not bother much to help you if they don't feel like it.
