I use wire for my canada wig. And it was needless to say painful, h-hahaha. Hmm, I have to find said wire or figure out how to do the curly strand. People have recommend using hair extensions. I really liked your Canada wig for Saturday's manifest though. :D
Oh thanks!! I used florist wire and twined random bits of leftover wig hair from my wig (since it was a long wig that my friend and I chopped up, haha). Hair extensions would probably work just as well. XD And a fair amount of UHU glue. 8) And some copic markers for the actual wig, for the strawberry tipped ends (though frequent washing has washed most of it out).
I prefer the wire+extensions method, since it looks more real (well, as real as random tufts of hair sticking out can look) but is still bendable into any random preferred position/shape. 8D I tried a lock of hair sans wire before and the damn thing kept flapping into my eyes and mouth. D8 Totally gross.
I'm trying to figure out which would work better for Canako-chan~ 8D Her ponytails aren't as high as Igiko's so tying up a long wig myself would be feasible, but if the clip-on ponytails are about the same colour as my current Canada wig, I could just get the extensions and clip them on.
Oh! I see. :o I was initially thinking of using hair from my wig, but alas the wig is short and I rather not snip off ends where it may/may not be obvious. H-hahah. The bit with the extensions, well according to this thing I saw, (which made it look so easy ;A;) was use varnish and then once it's stiff mold it into the shape you want.

I used copic markers too. :D And ended up staining my fingers yellow. Hahaha.

On Saturday and Sunday I was all urgh at the hair kept flying into my mouth and eyes. D< DHmm, since I haven't seen her artwork I can't say. However, it depends, as if you get a long wig, at least you could use it for something else, should you cosplay another blond character. However if not, then the ponytails would be best, especially if they're the same shade as
