Name: Blaise Zabini
Occupation: Student, Hogwarts, and student reporter for the Daily Prophet
Location: Hogwarts, UK

Question/Concern:
How can purebloods and Muggleborns be better made to understand each other? With such vastly different backgrounds, can the cultural barriers between the two be breached? For example, purebloods always reach first to magic for their answer, and Muggleborns for a physical answer--can the two be reconciled?

Thanks luv. Imp-er-ius. *waves finger at Blaise and chuckles*

No, I never said that. I just stated that your example was factually incorrect.

*sighs*

Alright then. Should we discuss Stalin, or Castro, or Hussein? Or any of the other multitude of maniacal psychopaths that run rampant in the Muggle world? While we may have one or so a century, I will admit, is it any wonder that the majority of the wizarding world wishes to stay apart from it.

Have you considered working out the ratio of psychopaths to actual population, Blaise? *raises eyebrows enquiringly*

The Muggle population is so much larger than the wizarding one--you're not comparing apples with apples working on an integer basis.

*smiles condascendingly*

Ever thought that the population difference is another factor as to why the wizarding world is wary of approaching the Muggle one, Priscilla? *raises an eyebrow right back*

There might be a higher ratio, but on a whole, it's less encouraging to be faced into going out into a world containing many more people willing to kill what they understand.

That would be professor Jones, young man. *imperious look*

Well your wizarding psychopaths are also willing to kill what they understand as well, Blaise.

Besides, the Ministry isn't wanting to break the statute of secrecy... only to promote understanding between wizards and the Muggles that are already aware of wizards, not so?

Then that would be Mister Zabini to you. Professor.

And yours aren't? They kill their own people as well. Do they not understand them?

Yes, well, just because only a small portion of Muggles know doesn't mean that among them there isn't someone just as prejudiced against us as some are against them. *pointed look*

*throws her hands up in the air*

Exactly. We are more alike that you're willing to see--the same problems in both our worlds with people that kill their own. And both prejudiced against each other. Is that not why we are here.

You, Young Zabini, have just argued yourself in a circle, all the way back to where we started. And here we are, back at the question *makes a little circle in the air with index finger*

It is just human nature to seek out people who are similar to yourself, I think.

In a marriage between two vastly different people, at least one has to give up his/her background. In the case of a marriage between a Muggle and a Pureblood, the couple has to choose whether to live in the Wizarding world or the Muggle world.

Well, it doesn't have to be that way. I think that they can successfully incorporate the best of both their worlds into the marriage.

Even if they choose to say, live the the wizarding world, a Muggle will always tend to bring the little things like ballpoint pens and coffee machines with them ;)

You sound like an eternal optimist *grimace*

If I were a Muggleborn, I would not want to live in the Wizarding world unless they have wireless Internet. And LiveJournal.

Oh, I am. *smiles broadly*

Oh no! What would we do without internet and livejournal. Do you have a livejournal? Do many wizards use the internet, I wonder.

Oh, all my friends live in the computer! ;-)

I wish I have more iconspace, because this icon would be appropriate just about now:

"Oh Eljay, I wish I knew how to quit you."

Oh, I hear you! *thinks fondly of her computer*

I have one that is rather appropriate for that sentiment ^^^^

I have to ask, Mr Zabini, but why would you want this?

We are parasites on the Muggle world, and that's not a criticism of the Wizarding world. We NEED Muggles to live. We do not sow, or not enough to feed all of us, we do not indulge in commerce other than specialist shops.

As much as I dislike Muggles, I do not wish to see them eliminated, as we would be killing the dog on which we feed.

However I DO think that we should make our presence known to the Muggleworld and take our rightful place, as leaders. However, this cannot be done until we have one leader ourselves, and not this disperate band of fools.

I'm surprised at you, Mr Zabini, when I get out, I'll have to speak to your delightful mother, I'm sure she does not know that you hold this shocking views.

My mother, sir, lives with her own little world and cares little for what I do with my life. As long as I do not marry a Muggle, she is perfectly content to leave me be.

And I never said I hold those views. I am merely stating them for discussion.

After all, how do we control what we cannot/will not understand?
