And they were wise... weren't they?

Eragon ficlet for Theatrical Muse. Thought I'd share. It sort of gives you a feel of him as I see him, at least.

197: Is there anyone in your life who you feel is exceptionally wise? Who, and how did you meet this person?

Goodness, hanging around Eragon seems to be an invitation to Death, doesn't it? I mean the Terry Pratchett version of course...

Of course, these people sort of brought it on themselves. Who wants to hang around someone as perfect and flawless as Eragon? XP

Wow, this is good. So creepy and intense. I totally wish Paolini could see it. ;)

Just one thought... I’d consider changing the last line, the "because of him" part. My reasons are subjective, but I’ll try to put into words. It’s that, reading it, we can see that this is the point you’re making, but it doesn’t get quite clear if Eragon knows, and that’s what makes it creepy. Not knowing if he’s into some serious denial and doesn’t even know he’s a sociopath, or if he knows it and it’s just justifying himself (and not quite succeeding). By saying that it was his fault, it’s implied that he’s aware of his part in all those deaths and it´s just making some token excuses for himself.

Then again, that’s just me. Good ficlet. ^ ^

Or something more cynical. It just ocurred to me, because some of the hidden lines sounds like someone talking to him, and, whoever it is, it´s not a very kind person. So the last line could be a question, like, whose fault it was, or something really harsh.

Ok, I´ll shut up now.

It could be, couldn't it? Isn't it fun to try and figure it out? XD

I'm trying to leave it ambiguous as to if he knows it's his fault or not. I think he knows, but I'm not sure. It's a funny place his head is.

I'd have finished reading Eragon if you had written it like this.
