Feeling better. Still nauseous, but up to writing. =D

Chapters Eldest, Inheritance

SummarySaphira and Eragon return from seeing Roran, Eragon angsting about how Roran seems to hate him. And then a sword bounces off Eragon's greaves. This means that either a) Saphira if flying awfully close to the ground or b) the guy threw his sword or c) he' ( Read more... )

Murtagh says to Eragon that they're the same, where upon Eragon says that they aren't because he doesn't have his scar anymore.

Wow. Did Paolini not realise how dense that makes Eragon look? It makes him sound like he has the mental capacity a five year old.

Not only that but there was no reason for this chapter to be called Eldest as nothing referred to it.

Unless they're referring to Morzan's "Eldest" son, which is nuckin' futs anyway.

What do you think the odds are that Eragon's first thought after all this will be on how it'll be to kill Murtagh but he's EVIL so it MUST be done?

We ARE talking about the same guy who had to become an elf just to solve a puzzle ring, right? Eragon hasn't shown any great gifts of intelligence so far.

Nor has Paolini shown any great gift of knowing how to write as if he has a clue about... anything.

"Apparently someone rewound the day. Maybe like Superman did in one of those movies or something?"

Superman was trying to make the horror that was Eragon go away, but he stopped turning the world too soon.

*dons a black arm band for Henry*

Paolini does body centered writing much like he does everything else; when it's cool, and usually in the wrong way.

*also dons a black arm band for Henry* Henry, we loved you!

... Though, well, Paolini did kind of explain the title. It's just such a stupid reason. ;P

There was a reason? I honestly can't remember it, if there was one.

Now, I had Henry. Henry was my hope that the title "Eldest" would be explained in this chapter. Henry died a horrible painful death. Let us all take a moment of silence for the death of Henry.

Wha?

Hah, sorry, that was from the comments in the last one. We were talking about having hope for why the book was called Eldest in the chapter called Eldest. I named my hope Henry.

Yes, I know, I'm strange.

From your description of the battle, Sapphira is absolutely useless.

Well, she's running around on the ground as opposed to you know, flaming from above, which would be useful.

So, Murtagh is being forced to do something against his will, and what does Eragon say to him? "You've become like your father." There is absolutely no reason for this comparison. Morzan willingly joined up with Galby and willingly destroyed the other riders. Murtagh was forced unwilling to do this. There is no comparison between the two of them. It's like the difference between someone who had sex willingly and someone who was raped. By indicating that the raped person was willing completely takes away the horror of being raped and all the trauma that came from it. Murtagh has been, essentially raped. His mind was broken open and he was forced to do things that he didn't want to do. This, of course is not addressed at all, but instead, Murtagh merely says that he's stronger than his father ever was. And that he knows all sorts of special magical powers that Galby taught him.Sadly, psychic abilities are not easy to write, unless you can envision yourself understanding several points of view. And have some fucking creativity. ;P ( ... )

He's supposed to be going to college, at least in theory.

There's only one more chapter after these. So, hold on!

Is he going to college currently or after he finishes the third book in this series?

I'll wait... to see how pathetic the last chapter is. ;)
