Gilbert Grape!!

Happy February! I just want to post my impressions of Gilbert Grape before I forget them XD I read the entire novel and re-watched the movie right before heading out so I'll be making some comparisons :3 THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!

I'm glad! Because I was visualizing the entire play when I was writing it XD

No clue but maybe unlikely because the theater is so small. Then again someone managed to film 818 which was in the same theater so...

I heard fancams are more likely in Osaka.

I like theater for the big emotions. you just make me wish I'd been there when you described maru's gilbert. I bet it was so fun. I love theater but I rarely ever go cause of my you know what but it occurs to me I never fully knew what gilbert grape was about. what WAS eating him anyway? feel free to spoil. i only ever saw bits of the movie and got bored lol.

Yeah I think his relationship with the person who played Arnie was very important too because they had a couple of really emotional scenes together. At the second or third curtain call they hugged each other really tightly--Maru lifted him up a little XD You might remember this guy--he was in Rookies I think.

He lived in the small town of Endora where everyone knew each other's business and nobody was truly satisfied with their lives. His family is his mother who is extremely overweight, his older sister Amy who acts like the mother of the family, his younger sister Ellen who just got her braces off and acts like a dramatic beauty queen, and his younger brother Arnie who has mental retardation. They also have an older sister Janice who is a flight stewardess and really fake and an older brother Larry who doesn't care about anything but they rarely ever come home and only send checks. So the story was about Gilbert living his life caring for his wacked out family. It's too bad you got bored because I really liked this movie XD

I just remember catching the movie about a million years ago. I think the one scene that always stuck with me was when Gilbert was supposed to help Arnie take a bath, he left for a while, forgot, and came back hours later and Arnie was sitting in the bathtub, freezing. It was so emotional and it broke my, I don't know, 9, 10 year old heart.

Oh most definitely. That was the part in the play where I started tearing up too XD

Yeah it was forever for me too so I'm glad I refreshed myself before going in XD And yeah I agree--I'd definitely love to see a DVD of this <3
