Warnings for off-screen character death, grieving, hurt/comfort.There's a sadness in Gwen's eyes that wasn't there before. In the days following her father's death, Merlin sees very little of her. When he does catch her at the water pump or in the hallways, she turns away to hide her face. He can't think of what to say to make her smile again

Gwen is startled into a giggle that somehow turns into a hiccup, and Merlin grins in return because it's the first real smile that he's seen on her face. They dissolve into giggles together, more because of Gwen's odd-sounding hiccup than anything else. "Merlin," Gwen gently chides, once she stops giggling, "We really need to work on your vocabulary

He's just about to turn around and give up when he sees it-not the pheasant, but a flash of white. He scoots forward, stumbling over a tree root, but he finds it. A tiny little clearing filled with dozens, even hundreds, of little white flowers shaped like stars. "Oh," Merlin breathes

Oh, this is wonderful. Everyone is perfectly in character (oh Arthur!) and Gwen & Merlin's interactions are just so utterly perfect. I adore these two together and this is exactly as they should be, a little awkward and a little silly and sweet and warm and caring. Thank you for writing things. &hearts

Gosh, this is so wonderful! It's so rare to see a fic that deals with Gwen's feelings in a serious way and this was so sweet and in character and lovely. Thanks for this!
