A story from years ago:

The waiting room at UC Davis Medical Center.

Mom was in for a biopsy. Procedure: check in, get prepped. Wait, and wait longer: UCD is a Level 1 Trauma Center, and an accident with multiple casualties can divert theaters and staff, as it did that morning.

Good advice. And yet how does one go about remembering not so well? That seems to be the hard part for me.

Why would you wish to not remember so well?

The key is this:
cultivate the discipline of grounding yourself, of "checking in" with this present moment, knowing that the memory can make our heart race.
It can be done; I wish I'd have heard the how of that earlier.

But it seems to me that to remember well is something that more need to know how to do.
