Well, I totally enjoyed that and am not sure why your beta thinks it didn't fit the characters (unless she is in the "there should never be George VI slash" camp which I have encountered quite a bit on FF.net)! Thank you so much for posting it! :)

Oh, no, she's not in that camp at all. We're simply used to a different format that didn't quite suit the fanfiction stirrings for The King's Speech.

Thanks for posting this! I loved the dialogue and Bertie's terseness -- I can absolutely see him as being confused and frustrated by his feelings for Lionel -- and that sense of victory/defeat at the ending was perfect. :-)

Thanks! I stress over the dialogue sometimes, which is to say nothing of my general anxiety over writing British tones in the fifties XD

Thank you for the kind words ^_^ Actually, the victory/defeat part came from a song by Amber Pacific where there's a line that says "And now our lips will meet/I'll taste that defeat/I'll give in this once".
