You said you were good at makin' thin's. That means you're good at technology, right? I need your help to make a really, really good filter and a way to make it so when I talk to people, they don't know it's me unless I tell them. Like, like they can't track it to me NV.

[ Calling... and immediately when you pick up: ]

What kind of trouble are you in?

Ain't trouble. Exactly. Kinda. I-- look, you heard about a guy named Yaha? And listen, I'm trustin' you on this, Wayne, don't make me regret it.

[ Jesus Christ, Jack, what is it with you and you interacting with the crazy and dangerous people? First Black Mask, now Yaha... ]

... Yaha's a friend of mine, despite what people keep telling me about him. [ Eyerub. ] So you can trust me.

Talk.

He's nice to me. [ Shrug. ] Plus his life story sounds really, really sad.

Oh, well, excuse me, I didn't know his story was sad. Well. That changes all the murders and the creepy behavior!

It doesn't excuse it, but it's like- what's the use of everyone hating him? It'll just make him right. Plus- well, he hasn't hurt me or anything.

Anyway, what do you need a filter and a voice changer for?

No, no, we'll get back to that, I got time. What exactly do you think is the alternative to hatin' him? Acceptin' him? Bein' okay with him? And goddamn, Bruce, who gives a damn if he's hurt you? He's hurt others! He'll hurt again!

[He sounds far angrier than he ever has.]

No. It's- just being there for him and being someone who likes him, so that if he ever thinks of doing something wrong... I can tell him it's wrong, and he might change. He might not hurt anyone again.

I have to try. It's not just locking him up and making sure that no one can get to him. If he is to stop being a threat he has to change, and how can he change when no one believes in him or want to?

[ This is why he can forgive. ]

Because he's a fuckin' psychopath! Are you-- Jesus, this ain't some upset guy who can listen to reason! He's mad and he does bad thin's because he enjoys them!

You can say that about anyone in the Sanitarium right now, but they are there because people want to help them be better people. And they can be better.

So can he.

Right. Well, tell that to one o' his victims, I'm sure it'll help comfort them. Do you think this about all rapists and murderers, or is it just him?

I'm not saying that it'll make anything better for those people - they can hate him all they like. But I wasn't here. I only know what he did second-hand, and it's not fair to anyone if I only judge them by what I hear of them.

[ Pause. ]

It's not just him.
