My Dad Definitely Doesn't Hate You - Part I

The difference a week makes. Last Wednesday I was at work feeling neither good nor bad, happy or angry. I was just numb. But I wasn't even aware of the numbness. For me, the thing that hits right between the eyes is the following statement: "Historically, marriage was used as a method of oppressing a despised group"

He then backs it up with historically facts, namely the Irish ban against Protestants marrying Catholics.

I really hadn't thought about it in those terms until I read that... although, now it would seem obvious to the most casual observer.

I hadn't really thought of marriage in those terms either. The SFC article Dad passed along is a good one for sure.

Not spending as much time with my Dad in the last decade is a regret I'm glad I can remedy to an extent now. We are so much alike in so many ways.
